The Stormlight Archive by Brandon Sanderson is excellent thus far! (Only two of the planned ten books are out thus far though)
I was thinking on getting into Brandon Sanderson's other works, as I got the Mistborn trilogy for the Holidays. A friend of mine is insisting I read "the sword of truth" series so we will see
I was thinking of doing that especially seen as there was quite a bit of time between 11 and the final 3.
Definitely branch off into Brandon Sanderson's books - I started reading him on the strength of WoT, and he's absolutely brilliant. Mistborn, Stormlight, Elantris - all worth a deeko. Just read the Legion & The Emperor's Soul novellas, good launching platform to start his work :) Peter V. Brett's Demonwar series is not too shabby either.
Have you read any Terry Brooks? Shannara is awesome - but you need to start at the beginning, as the one criticism is that he does recycle a lot, his later works are very samey. Think The Sword of Shannara is the first in series, from memory.

Hi! new in the group :) definitely Brandon Sanderson is next, I discovered his work when he was asked to finish the Wheel of Time. The Mistborn series are awesome, and Stormlight Archive has blown my mind! also, have you read A Song of Ice and Fire by George Martin? it's very different but also good!
If your new to Sanderson, what will really blow your mind later is when you realize that all of his books that don't take place on our earth are in the same universe and connected.
George Martin has a lot in common with Jordan:1. Originally planned a trilogy
2. Series started growing beyond control, with innumerable main and minor characters turning up all the time.
3. Fans eagerly waiting for the next book and hoping he'll stay alive long enough to finish the story
Hi, nope not read any Terry books so will have a lool. think I will wait and see if George Martin completes his series before he starts as I dont want to end up in the same situation as with WoT. Thanks guys and girls!

besides those three things and the time period both are placed in ASoIaF and WoT i completely different. ASoIaF is about political intreage and insest. WoT is about rand al'thor. i hated ASoIaF but loved WoT. just saying.
I recommend the Gentleman Bastards series by Scott Lynch. There are three out now and The Lies of Locke Lamora is one of the best fantasy books I have ever read.
I would give terry brooks a try. I have read some of the shannara series and it is pretty awesome, in my opinion!
Awesome, let me know what you think. I might have to try Shannara, I've seen those in the library since I was a kid but never read one.
