Uh, no. This one made me feel queasy the first time. Don't intend to go back, even if it was a good read.
Hmm. After reading some reader reviews, yours among them Dustin, I decided to read Strangers in June.
Are you going to read Dragon Tears too? Strangers is the May Group Read. Dragon Tears is the June Group Read. Looks like Odd Thomas in July.
"I just had grenades thrown at me. Fuck spell- check.". This is my 3rd(ish) time through the book and this Connie line of dialogue makes me LOL every...single...time.

Matthew, when I read your comment, I thought you had gotten yourself in the middle of a current event. Then I realized you were quoting from the book :-)
I'm still finishing Strangers - Geez! that was a long Dean Koontz Book! I think I'm finishing this evening, but I again I thought that last evening :-)
See you soon.

Finished it now. Particularly liked the part at the rave. Thought the afterword was interesting - how he got pushed into a title that had nothing really to do with the book. Even really successful authors have to tow the line - the first published edition of The Stand is about 2 thirds of the book Stephen King eventually published as a “directors cut”.
Thanks Bill. I'm currently reading Dragon Tears for the third time and this is my most enjoyable Dragon Tears experience. Perceptions change and I didn't appreciate Dragon Tears as much in the past. Lots of 1990s end if the millennium mentions - can be a bit annoying. Its the 90s afterall, if one can get past that I think Dragon Tears is pretty enjoyable and has a lot to offer.
I'm enjoying my re-reading as well. I THINK this is my 3rd time reading it through in its entirety. Koontz writes like a man possessed in this book…so, so vivid. This, of course, is because the book is meant to be like a dark, intense adult fairy tale. Do you all think the colorful imagery might be a bit overdone? His similes definitely add a whole lot of pages to the text. I'm pretty visual so I enjoy this but I can def see that it slows down the pacing.

Rush headlong and hard at life
Or just sit at home and wait.
All things good and all the wrong
Will come right to you: it's fate.
Hear the music, dance if you can.
Dress in rags or wear your jewels.
Drink your choice, nurse your fear
In this old honkytonk of fools.
