Mystery - Puzzles to solve

Not reading mysteries, but I have a fondness for the Cadfael Mysteries. A Welsh monk, in eastern England (Shrewsbury) who solves crimes, and usually sets up some couple or another. Definitely in the cozy-historical confluence. Found them through the BBC series, and then dug up paperbacks until I could start getting them electronically.

I adored the Cadfael mysteries--both the original books and the BBC adaptations. I was sad they adapted so few.

Ironically, that's how I got sucked into reading these books--I saw several of the adaptations. I'll admit it's sometimes jarring to read events/characters that are so different than the movies. (I guess that's what you get when you see the movie before reading the book.)

I love the Aurora Teagarden mysteries on Hallmark. I haven't read the books yet, but they are definitely on my TBR list.

Library Lover's Mystery series by Jenn McKinlay
Bookmobile Cat Mystery series by Laurie Cass
Lighthouse Library Mystery series by Eva Gates
Haunted Library Mystery series by Allison Brook
Blue Ridge Library Mystery series by Victoria Gilbert
Sherlock Holmes Bookshop Mystery series by Vicky Delany
Scottish Bookshop Mystery series by Paige Shelton
All of these series are in the "cozy mystery" genre.

I've read the Blue Ridge Library mystery series! I picked them up after I visited the Blue Ridge Mountains several years ago. I enjoyed the books themselves, though I wished they had a stronger sense of place. I think I'll give some of the other series you mentioned a try. Thanks!

So, one thing I am constantly tickled by is murder mysteries that include recipes. I completely understand how you get there... a mystery to read and a new recipe to try sounds like a fun combo, and ties with your reading. But I keep picturing a couple having dinner, and the non-reader saying "This is really good. Where did you get the recipe?" "Oh, from this murder mystery I was reading." And the non-reader has to stop for a moment and think "Did I annoy my spouse more than usual this week?"
