Ann I was finally able to get all the book shelves added to our group! I've added a few books as examples. I will add more in the next few days from notes I've taken off the prompts discussion boards. When you start reading a book we would love it if you'd add it to the "currently reading" shelf along with all the other shelves it belongs on. So, for example, if you start reading In Cold Blood put it on the "Currently reading" shelf as well as the shelves for "Based on a true story" and "book that became a movie" even though you're only using it for one prompt. That way others can scroll through our shelves and find ideas for specific prompts. When you are done, just change the status to "read".

If you've got recommendations for books you've already read add them just like above but feel free to put them on the "read" shelf.

The more participation we have for this the better this group will be! It would be great for everyone to be able to see exactly what others are reading by clicking on our book shelves.

There is one bug that I'm trying to work out with the Goodreads people. The very last shelf on the list "49 based on or turned into a tv show" I tried to delete but something went wrong. When adding a book for that prompt please use the one labeled "49 based on a tv show". I had to shorten the name to be able to be clear on what the shelf was.

If anyone has any questions feel free to post them here or message me personally. Thank you all for your enthusiasm and participation. Happy New year to you all. Now let's get readin'!

Lucas | 9 comments Erm... I got a problem. I already read two books, but they don't automatically appear in this group. How do I add them?

message 3: by Ann (new)

Ann Hi Lucas! To add them to the group click on the "Bookshelves" link on the group home page. It should be up in the right corner. Then add your books as normal. Be sure to shelve them on all the prompts you think it fulfills! If you are on the app I don't know if you can add them. If you need to, message me with the books you've read and what prompt you've read them for I will add them!

Heidi (heidi28) Hi Ann,

A quick question about one of the prompt bookshelves. For the 'A book set in another country' prompt, what sort of countries should we be adding to that?

The books I've read/am reading so far have all been set in the UK. For me these won't fit the prompt, but as a lot of the members of this group are from the US (as well as other countries) the books would work for them.

What should we do for this then?

You can add any books to this shelf, really, because the shelves can be used for keeping track of what people are reading along with recommendations. Since I'm from the US I'd love to look through the shelf and see books from the UK in there that others love so I can use them to choose for that prompt. This goes for people in the US or any other country, too. We have people from lots of differnet places - which is great! Maybe as a group we could just add books where the country/setting is a part of the story. Books that could happen anywhere don't really fulfill the spirit of the prompt. So any books where the setting is important to the plot in any way can definitely be added. Does that sound resonable? Thank you for your question!

Heidi (heidi28) That sounds like a good idea! Thanks for the response, I'd like to keep the shelves organised properly so I didn't want to mess it up :P

I read Cinder for a Book based on a fairy tale. It is already under that shelf from someone else. Do I just leave everything that is there and then move onto another book and see what others I have read and if I need to add it to another shelf? Just trying to figure it out. Thank you!

Yes! That's exactly it. Unless you notice that the book could be shelved in another category like YA Best seller or science fiction or romance that takes place in the future. You can add the book to other shelves as well, not just the shelf you used.

Perfect, thank you!! That is what I assumed and updated it yesterday :)

Sara and I discussed and weren't planning to add bookshelves this year. Do you use them? How do you use them? You've been participating a long time so let me know.

poshpenny | 1916 comments I do. I have used them to look for suggestions and I think it's fun to see the books change on the main page. I had noticed I was nearly the only one doing it lately, though.
