I was intrigued by the story from the very first chapter. I am enjoying V.E Schwab's writing.

I first thought change in timelines may be a bummer but I haven't encountered any such problem so far. Also,I have got so many questions.

I really want to know what caused such a major drift between Victor and Eli? And why exactly Victor landed up in penitentiary?What are Victor,Eli and Sydney's power?

I forgot how much I loved this book! I’m completely sucked in again and I feel like I’ve forgotten so much!

I haven't read much yet. Only up to chapter 4, 5.7% in. It has an intriguing premise so far but I don't know enough yet to have an opinion. Time jumps depend how well they are done for me so we will see how it goes.

[I first thought that Victor was an EO after his first attempt at NDE and maybe he is unable to harness his power .
We did find out what is Eli's power ..which seems pretty cool btw.
Victor becomes EO ,but the cost he pays for it is pretty hefty ...I also thought Angie would play a bigger role in the story ,guess that want happen now.

I also want to know more about Sydney's character and about her sister. More of Mitch's character would nice as well.<\Spoiler> (hide spoiler)]

What caused the rift between Victor and Eli and how did he end up in prison?

Not sure about the multitude of time jumps, some of them are quite random. the 10 years to present to last night to 10 years to two days ago is a little much. I don't mind some past/present but that's a lot of time periods already and I'm only 10% in. I also don't really know anything about the characters or world yet partially I think do to those jumps.

This book felt like solving a jigsaw puzzle

(view spoiler)[ Victor is definitely a morally gray character. Is he evil? I don't think so, but he's done some not so great things. At this point knowing what we know about how Eli is hunting EO's, he seems more the villain and a psychotic one at that.And why does Eli hasn't killed Serena yet ....I want to know what there deal is

And Dol is quite an addition...Can I say I love him already.

While I am enjoying this story, it really is about a damaged spoiled jealous brat child who gets powers. I don't particularly care for anybody in the story.
I do think Victor's powers are more interesting than Eli's also. as wonderful as it would be to have super healing, being able to effect your own ability to feel pain as well as others and to be able to amp that up or null it is super neat.

I can definitely understand why you wouldn't like any of the characters as each of them does horrible things in the name of ambitiousness.
I do like Victor' s power as well and also like the concept of how their power are because of thought that was strong to keep them alive and not just random ..but I also think it would be really hard to kill Eli considering his healing power.

Up to chapter 9 of part 2, 59.5%. I still don't particularly like any of the characters. Not to say I dont enjoy the story but still. (view spoiler)[ Eli and his hollier than thou attitude is annoying. Serena could be doing so much more with her power. Sydney's power is terrifying but I'm glad she saved the dog. Victor is still a selfish one track mind kind of guy. Mitch and his hacking is neat.
I'm good with morally grey characters, actually they are some of my favourites. But there just isn't a lot there character wise for me. Story is intriguing. I actually had a similar problem when I read Darker Shades of Magic by this author as well so it might just be a me thing. (hide spoiler)]

I’ve finished re-reading Vicious. I’m going to carry on and read Vengeful as that’s another series off my list.

I finished it and really enjoyed the story and was totally sucked in by the end, even if I figured out the plan, but still did not love the characters.
I will absolutely read Vengeful but as the library only as it in audio it will be a little bit before I get there. Might be able to fit it in by the end of July.

What did you think of Vicious upon reread Kay?

I finished Vicious. I loved how fast paced and engaging this book was all credits to Schwab's writing style .
The characters were definitely awful and deeply flawed .I kind of like Sydney and Mitch and root for them more than the main characters.

I would also like to hop on the wagon and read vengeful.I am mostly like to pick it in around mid July.

I still enjoyed it on the re-read but I think I enjoyed it more on my first read through. For me I don't feel overly connected with many characters so I think already knowing what was going to happen took away my enjoyment slightly. I have started reading Vengeful and I'm really enjoying it. Maybe for me this is a great series that I enjoy but not one to re-read.

I am so ready for Vengeful!
Schwab definitely has an intense and complicated mind and all the books I read from her are fast-paced (like insanely action-packed) and the characters have flaws that they are really not trying to hide.

@Kayleigh I do believe that Schwab's books are meant to be read only once because after re-reading they lose the initial intensity and the element of surprise

I definitely agree in respects to her adult books. I've re-read one of her YA books and enjoyed it just as much the second time around.

So....... I’m kinda tempted to DNF Vengeful. I don’t know whether it’s coz I’m in a reading rut or something but I’ve been reading it over a week and I’m only 200 pages in. I’m so sad as I loved Vicious but I’m so bored :(

Oh no! That doesn't sound good at all. Maybe take a break and read something short and go back to it?

That’s what I was thinking. I’m super sad coz I loved the first book. I might try a short read and go back to it. If this rut continues I’ll never get to Empire of Gold 😂
