Would appreciate a cover update for the book. Have had the cover lightened. Link to the image on my author site

Z-squared | 8575 comments Hi A.D.,

First, a couple things. Please don't delete valid publication info for books; doing so is against Goodreads policy. I have reverted several changes you made to your paperback edition, which led to the creation of a duplicate, and added the other paperback edition. Also, I reverted changes you'd made against policy to the kindle edition as well.

Goodreads policy is to keep all published covers because users like to shelve the edition that matches the one they own. Instead, we create alternate cover editions (ACEs), and you as the author have the ability to set the new cover as the default edition. I have created ACEs for you here:

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2... (kindle)
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2... (ebook)

Which paperback edition is being reissued with the new cover? Once you let me know, I can make an ACE for that edition as well.

To set one of the new cover editions as default, follow the instructions here:

https://www.goodreads.com/help/show/3...

A.D. Starrling (adstarrling) | 50 comments Hi Z-squared,

The paperback version hasn't been changed yet, so it's just the ebook cover that was being changed to a January 2015 version. The cover has been lightened, that's all. Apologies if I violated Goodreads policy, that was never my intention. I find putting up new work relatively easy but adding editions and editing editions quite confusing.

As the creator of this content, it would be great to be able to modify things myself but I do understand that Goodreads wants readers to be able to keep all versions of a book, even if they are no longer in publication.

I have switched the primary edition to the Kindle January 2015 as of now.

Shall I just comment on here when the new paperback cover is ready?

Also, do let me know exactly I did that was against the Goodreads policy! I like to tinker with my account and I don't want to make the same mistake again!

Thanks
Anjanee

Z-squared | 8575 comments Hi Anjanee,

Just go ahead and start a new thread when your paperback edition is re-released. This thread might get closed in the meantime.

What was against policy was overwriting edition information in order to turn an old edition into something newer. On one edition, you replaced ISBNs -- big no-no! On another, you changed the pub date, page count, etc. If you release a new edition (new meaning a new cover and/or revised content), create a new edition. When in doubt, try posting here first for advice.

Best,
Z

Z-squared | 8575 comments re 3, Kaykayalkhair, I"m not sure what you're asking for. Both editions have covers, and I notice that another librarian recently combined them.

In future, please start a new thread for your request rather than tacking on to a thread that's already dedicated to a specific book. Thanks!
