This year I feel lucky! I will start this year off with a 250 book goal. I generally start out at the 200 mark and increase it after the summer vacation but I have been acquiring so many great books lately I think I won't be able to contain my urges to read them all!
I'm going easy this year, will try to read only books that are entertaining from the beginning untill the end, all the others I'll discard, so my goal is 36.
Even though I obliterated last year's 23 books by reading 64, a lot of that was due to travel across both the Atlantic and Pacific for work. (Don't get to read much when I travel with family as the daughter is an attention suck) So I'm just increasing to 30 and hoping I make it.
I don't do challenges. I just wanted to wish everyone good luck.
Aiming for 100 right now; I've exceeded that the past 2 years now, but I would rather adjust my goals upwards rather than down :)
Just barely made my goal of 200 in 2014. This year it's 75. I have lots of historical fiction on my tbr list!
Last year my reading challenge was 200 books but I managed to exceed it by 5 reads so this year I'm shooting for 220 (crossing my fingers). But if I need to I'll reconsider this number later as the year progresses. I've got quite a few looking promising books on my TBR shelf. Happy New Year everyone!
my target is 300 but I think I wont succeed. its a case I want to clear as much as I can off my tbr pile, hoping to make it smaller but no doubt it will be ever growing like everyones tbr piles
My goal this year is 200 books. I used to have an hour lunch to spend time with a book and now I am down to 30 minutes so I won't have quite as much time to spend with books.
I decided to bump it up this year from 100 to 125 since the past couple years I've cracked the triple digits. Figure it's not much of a challenge if I know I'll make it :)
Last year my goal was 212 books. I reached that goal on December 30th. The last couple of months of 2014 I found myself stressed over the fact I possibly would not reach my goal. I found myself evaluating which books to bed by how much time I thought I could spend on each book. I want to choose my books because of the anticipation I feel for the story. I have set my goal for 2015 at 120 books. I wiill review in June and decide if I need to increase it. Hope 2015 is filled with an abundance of books and plenty of reading time to enjoy them. Happy reading to you all.
I think that the Goodreads Challenge should serve as an inspiration to meet and not become a shackle around the reader’s neck to lead them to the quick and easy as opposed to the long and satisfying. I, however, read everything and anything, making 250 more of a mark than a challenge.
I have to agree with you Thom. I let meeting the goal for last year spoil the pleasure the reading is supposed to be. I scaled way back for 2015. I know that reading 120 books will be an easy task for me. Any above that will be just because.
I have set my goal for 100 again. Last year was the first year I started one and accomplished it. Let's see how 2015 goes. Good luck to everyone :-)
My goal last year was 150 books and I was short by 36 books. It's ok though: this years goal is to hit 150-for real this time. :)

It's hard not to feel that hectic feel, so I do have to fight that. Overall it has helped me stay on track and get more reading done.

I'm a unheard of (for me) 8 ahead. Which is great because historically February is a slow reading month for me. I really hope I can keep the momentum.
You all amaze me! I am going to be happy to make it to 25 this year! I want a large page number count and I can't speed read.

Would love to see some more people join in.
I've read 102 books putting me 73 ahead. I can cruise along for the rest of the year; maybe doing something entirely new.
I´ve been caught in the web of manga lately, so I´m "24 books ahead of schedule" at the moment. I´ve read some 300-600+ pages books as well but it´s mostly manga. Well, so far I´ve been true to my goal for this year, of reading only books that are of real interest to me. I recall reading only two books that bored me so it´s an improvement of a sort.
Oh, and I gave up on on only two books!
My numerical goal is 36 books. ^^

I know what you mean, the only reason I'm three books ahead at the moment is thanks to a couple of graphic novels. :-)

I went low this year. I normally shoot for 75 and surpassed that by ten lest year. This year going for 50. I have some other non reading projects I want to engage in this year, so wanted to make sure I didn't stress myself out trying to do everything. I'm staying around 2-3 ahead of schedule, so we will see what happens! Happy reading and good luck everyone!
March check in: I'm 15 books ahead of the game but I've had 8 DNFs so far this year so maybe I should say I'm 7 books ahead. Not too shabby.
Lin wrote: "I have read 34 books so far for the year."Go you! That's great. I wish I could say the same.
I'm kind of lame with numbers this year. To be fair though I went through a small reading slump in January for some reason. It's picked back up but I've been reading some long books. Just finished Lonesome dove at 940 pages and some Urban fantasies that are a bit over 500 pages, so this is slowing down the total finished too a little. Also been reading a few books at once!
But oh well it will work out in the end I'm sure :)
