I nominate The Weight of Water by Anita Shreve I have read and enjoyed several of this author's books but havent reaad this one - its from quite a long way back so I must have missed it when it came out!

Janine | 80 comments I suspect I'm the only person in the group who hasn't read this one yet, but I've still got it sitting on my shelf waiting... So I'll nominate Wolf Hall by Hilary Mantel. But I think it might be one I have to catch up on in my own time.

Val It is worth reading Janine.
There is a television adaptation due for broadcast by BBC2 this month and PBS in April, which might stimulate some interest.

That's good to know, Val. I'll keep an eye out for it - we'll probably get it later than the UK. And I'll have to read it first... even if it's not with the group.

Janine - I havent actually read Wolf Hall either so it may well come up at some point! (its quite the epic book though!!)
oh and I have a copy sitting on my shelf too!

Val We could take two months over "Wolf Hall" if it wins (as was suggested for other long books).

Ruthie (ruthiea) | 70 comments Wolf Hall! Saw the trailer for the series- it looks good! It is a tough read though, not a linear book, so many characters with the same names, but the sequel is much easier to read and the final of the trilogy should be coming soon....it may need 2 months.

Val No long books have won any vote so far, but we did decide that if The Goldfinch had won we would take two months over it, so I think we could extend that to Wolf Hall or The Luminaries or any other book where the length might otherwise put people off choosing it.

Great idea! I've noticed there have been a few longer books that haven't made it throught the voting process. And all 3 of the books you mention are on my keen to read list. So I'd happily opt for a longer reading and discussion timeframe. Also happy to work in with the group.
