A Boy and His Dog at the End of the World. This book will stay with me for a long time. It is a dystopian tale about a world that has been depopulated due to massive infertility and environmental issues. A family is living alone comfortably on an island off the coast of Scotland, when a trader comes and steals a boy's dog. Griz chases after the trader on his boat, and explores the mainland while looking for the man and the dog. I enjoyed the simple yet evocative descriptions, and the insights revealed along the way. Parts of the story are bleak, but I found it very worthwhile and enjoyable overall. The structure of the story within the story is very well done. I know many of you will choose to avoid dystopian stories right now, but you might like it later. I think this book might fit the potential tags for June.
