Susan Thanks again for organising this, Jacob. I intend to keep to the reading schedule you have outlined with such detail.

Seonag (seonagp) Forgive me if I'm being too literal... Is the idea to wait until after the 10th, or is it okay to start discussions before the end date so long as we stick to the text up to that point?

Also, any thoughts / preferences about how the nature of the discussion - questions, reflections, observations..., some mix of all?

Jacob (jacobvictorfisher) | 112 comments I changed it to the 11th so that each week will have a Sunday and Saturday as bookends. That seems to provide more flexibility. Yes, my thought was that we start discussing on the 11th. This is partly because then everyone will know that discussions open up on Sunday each week (no need to constantly check on the group for early arrivals to the conversation), and because I'll have a firm deadline to add the thread.

Thanks, that makes sense - sounds like a good plan, and I'm looking forward to Sunday!

Jacob, I agree that one should have a firm timetable for the reading of each week's assignment. However, having been a member of the 2014 group, I do not think that one needs to rigidly stick to the same timetable for comments/discussion. The members of the group invariably commented as they were going along, sometimes way ahead of the scheduled reading timetable. This did not spoil the exercise, as long as the comments strictly pertain to that week's assignment.
Having said that, it is of course open to each group to make up its own rules. Whatever works for you is fine.

Simon (sorcerer88) | 176 comments I agree with Ben. Anyone reading the thread for the next reading deadline should expect spoilers for the assigned part (though hopefully for that one only). And i'd expect people to want to discuss things as they read them, not days later, sometimes ahead of the week's deadline, including me.

Jacob (jacobvictorfisher) | 112 comments I appreciate the suggestions. That seems like a good idea. I'll make sure that the discussion thread for each week is up before we start reading it, that way we can discuss while we read. Also, I'll move this conversation to the general folder and start a fresh thread for Swann's Way.
