Welcome, Welcome.There will be no foolish wand-waving or silly incantations in this class. As such, I don't expect many of you to appreciate the subtle science and exact art that is potion making. However, for those select few who possess the pre-disposition, I can teach you how to bewitch the mind and ensnare the senses; I can tell you how to bottle fame, brew glory, and even put a stopper in death. Then again, maybe some of you have come to Hogwarts in possession of abilities so formidable that you feel comfortable enough to not pay attention.

Please make up a potion, of some sort and post it. Here is mine....

Beauty Solution


The Beauty Solution was a very popular potion in the late 1700s until the mid 1800s. It changes the features of someone's face (similarly to the Polyjuice Potion, which was created near the end of the Beauty Solution's popularity spurt) to a mental image that they have in mind for three days. The use of this potion (as well as the use of the Polyjuice Potion) was outlawed in the mid 1800s because people had discovered that they were less likely to be caught if they used this potion while performing illegal acts.

Ingredients:
1 cup dragon's blood
2 ounces Melocasia seeds
3 Cosmet Flower leaves
1 fairy wing

Tools Required:
1 large silver cauldron (standard sizes 4-6 work well)
1 wand (knowledge of the usage of a pensieve)

How to Prepare:
1) Boil a cup of dragon's blood in a fairly large, silver cauldron.

2) Crush two ounces of Melocasia seeds into an even paste. Check that they smell like cinnamon. If they do, add the paste to the boiling dragon's blood in small amounts (if you add it too quickly the dragon's blood will boil over the edge of the cauldron, no matter how large the cauldron is). If they do not smell like cinnamon, they were improperly stored and should be discarded.

3) Chop up the Cosmet Flower leaves into equally-sized portions and add them to the mixture.

4) Stir the potion counterclockwise for two minutes, at which point you must immediately add the fairy wing. If you are late or early by more than fifteen seconds the potion will not work. (It is recommended that you unwrap the wing prior to adding the Cosmet Flower leaves and use a timer after adding the leaves so that you are more precise.)

5) Finally, concentrate all of your energy on a mental picture of the face you want to have and extract the thought from your mind much as you would do when working with a pensieve. Drop it into your potion.

6) If the mixture is correctly prepared, it will fizz at the addition of the mental picture and go from a dark muddy color to a an clear shade of yellow. Let cool. Store in a glass container. (The magical properties of the dragon's blood will seep through most other containers of any thickness.)

Usage:
Pour a cup of the mixture into a glass cup to drink from. Drink the entire cup at once (do not stop to breathe). Over the course of the next hour the features of your face will slowly change to the mental image you put into the potion.

Flutter Fly

Flying is a skilled art. With Flutter Fly you can be an expert at flying. All it takes is a few minor ingredients and small amount of skill. When done you can fly all around town without a broom! The potion will ware off in 1-3 days.

Ingredients:
3 big tubs of FloberWorm Mucus
1 Leaf of a Bilbard Tree
2-6 teaspoons of Pixie Dust

Tools Required:
1 Cauldron size: 11
Some way to heat the cauldron
1 Wand

How to Prepare:
1)Put 1 gallon of FloberWorm Mucus in the cauldron.

2)Turn on the heat, make sure that the heat is low. Leave sitting there for 3 hours.

3)Stir. The FloberWorm Mucus needs to be a darker blue. Add the Leaf of a Bilbard Tree.

4)Add 3 quarts more of FloberWorm Mucus.

5)Stir. Do spell Rightwind.

6)Turn off heat. Let sit 12 hours.

7)1 quart of FloberWorm Mucus.

8)Add the Pixie Dust. 2 teaspoons for each day wanted, but only up to 3 days.

9) If done right you should have a sparkle to the mixture. Store in whatever available.

Usage: Drink 5 cups. (Yes, this is not all of it, can be used a few times.) It will take about a hour. After the waiting, use your will and up you go. When flying again use your will and slightly linen in the detraction you want to go.

Spell Rightwind:
Left your wand above you head then swiftly bring it down to wast level, stop abruptly. Wail doing this say: Rightwind. Hold out the I in right and say wind as you stop your wand.

WARRING:
IT IS NOT ACTUALLY 24 HOURS WHEN THE POTION WARES OFF. BE CAREFUL!

Death Do You Part?

this is a potion that if you die you can be revived. but it only works if someone is willing to sacrfice themselves for you. And it also needs to be a full moon.

ingredients:
someone to sacrifice self
two toddler flobberworms
two dragon scales
1 pint of dragon blood
1 feather from a phoneix
a piece of bark from the whomping willow
and a single hair from a unicorn

tools:
a large cauldron
something to stir it with
and two viles with lids

first you will need to boil the dragon blood over a fire.
next put in the tree bark from the whomping willow so that it gets soft.

stir five times and then add the dragon scales

let this sit for one day, before continuing the potion

after you have waited add the two toddler flobberworms, and stir.

now all you have to do is add the phoneix feather and the single unicorn hair. Stir 20 times and let the potion sit for 2 more days.

after you have completed this put your potion into the viles.

self feed the person person who has been descesed one vile and you drink the other. You will find yourself very lightheaded. this potion is best to be done close to a hospital because you could die from doing this spell if you don't take precautions.
