Sarah. B I`m looking forward to this one. Never read it but really enjoyed the 1974 film :-)

C. J. Scurria (goodreadscomcj_scurria) | 367 comments I guess this is the perfect time to end my not-reading-Christie spell. And just in time to read what I've heard is one of her best. Exciting!

Mark Pghfan | 95 comments This is, in my opinion, one of her very best. As it turns out, it was not well received by critics at the time. I believe the phrase used was something like "a let-down by an author we have come to like." Just shows what the critics know...

Alberto The 1974 film was awesome, but the David Suchet 2010 is even better.

Sarah. B Have not seen that one. Will keep an eye out for it

Brian | 2 comments This is another of Christie's books that are great to read again and again.

Reija | 42 comments Well, this was my second time and I still don't like it. At first time I was just read The Christmas train which seemed really rewrite this story so Agathas version was boring then (well maybe she wrote it the first) but even now, this is really not for me. And the ending.. maybe I have watched too much police tv-show to want other conclusion.

Sarah. B First time for me and I really enjoyed. :-)

Raymunda (raymundaj) I really enjoyed it too! Still one of my favorites.

C. J. Scurria (goodreadscomcj_scurria) | 367 comments I can't believe I can't find my copy of this book. I will try and seek it out!!!

Malcolm Noble | 0 comments Raymond Chandler is my all time favourite author and he said of this one, 'only an idiot could guess it' which tickles me every time I read it. I agree that it does tend to drag on but I always see it as THE train murder and for a Christie fan it is nice to pick up her own grumbles about the train. Now, I am in a minority because I like films to bring something different to the table. I prefer the Suchet film because I like the analogy at the front of the woman being stoned - which is just what the passengers do. I also very much like the Aldred Malino (?) film because it is a new take on Poirot - with a love interest. It is a very believable Poirot. However, this film is a let down because the train isn't pulled by a steam loco. Unforgivable. Any commments?

Reija | 42 comments Maybe I should check some of movies then, at least tv-show Poirot and Murder of the Orien Express is on Netflix here.

George Sheehan Late to the party but this book was freaking AMAZING

C. J. Scurria (goodreadscomcj_scurria) | 367 comments Wow, I just finished it. It's great!

I will give more comments later but my favorite aspect was it feels like you are in this luxury train. That was fun to imagine.

Brooklyn Tayla (bookishbrooklyn) | 121 comments I thought the same, CJ! I remember just being in awe of the sheer opulence that is The Orient Express, and feeling like I was traveling right alongside our little Belgian.

:)

Roy Dimond CJ and Brooklyn, I actually took both the Orient Express and the Blue Train while doing research for my book regarding the eleven days Agatha went missing. She really nailed the ambience of both trains. Amazing writer.

Wow that's awesome! And also I didn't know that the Blue Train was one that existed though I did know about the Orient Express.

Roy Dimond The Express is a stunning train and from the outside grander than the Blue Train but on the inside the Blue train is almost as nice. Both are the epitome of luxury.

Roy Dimond Lauren, it was surreal to think Agatha may have looked at some of the things I was looking at. As for the train, the Express is stunning, truly stunning from the outside. Inside, it just feels like old England. The Blue Train, to my eye, is less imposing on the outside, but nearly the equal of the Express on the inside.

I wonder why the critics thought that? This was a great book!

Brooklyn Tayla (bookishbrooklyn) | 121 comments That would've been so awe-inspiring, to be on such an iconic and legendary train. I hope to do the same one day.

The book itself I found so chilling. It stays with me, after the ending. The adaption with David Suchet made for such powerful viewing. :')

Roy Dimond Brooklyn,

Don't underestimate the Blue Train as an amazing train experience. The Orient Express is worth seeing even from the outside. To this day, despite high speed trains the express looks fast.

Brooklyn Tayla (bookishbrooklyn) | 121 comments Oh believe you me, I definitely don't. XD
