Zoom Meetings
I won't be on the zoom tomorrow because I unintentionally dove into a pool with the phone in my pocket. It doesn't work and I doubt I can get one this weekend. MY bad!
Reminds me of a scene in Midsomer Murders where a lady the two detectives have been interviewing takes off the towel she has over her dress and dives Into her pool. Sgt Troy remarks to Inspector Burnaby that she still has her jewels on.

Funny you should mention that, was thinking of bringing them ALL down. I `ll pick a few goodies. But I`ll start where I started, in BrooklynMike Linn
Guys but I want to see the golf match at 3 so can we try to limit it to 1 1/2 hrs as hard as it may be.
I made next week’s meeting at the same time as this week. Worse case I’ll drink coffee throughout.
Oh it is but 3 days in a row of staying up til midnight or later will take its toll on me. I’m willing to continue these meetings at least once a week as long as we have no live sports.
Today, I salute every man & woman that`s ever tied a pair of boots, buttoned up a uniform or put their body & soul on that line.Mike Linn
So your holiday was yesterday I take it. Ours, which has gone by many names, was last Monday (the Monday on or preceding the 24th of May). It used to be on the 24th no matter the day of the week but got changed many moons ago so that we could have a long weekend.
Just realized today is Monday. Guess I am too tired to think straight. Off to the land of wonderful dreams.

I too salute all the fallen heroes and will virtually attend a memorial service later.
John, we too had that change in the US. Memorial Day used to May 30 until it was changed to the last day of May for a three day weekend.

Count me in guys.
Count me in guys.
I hope the zoom call went well. I've been offline for the most part since Friday. I needed a break from the pc.
I won’t be at today’s Zoom call. My wife and I have been volunteering at a food pantry by doing the shopping and stocking and we are doing that today. Usually we do it on Wednesday but we were asked to get a few items they were running low on that are popular. Hope you have a good meeting.

Good for you guys. What a great thing to help others out in this time.
I won't be able to make it today either. We are going to Louisville to have a socially distant picnic with our granddaughter--haven't seen them since February.

That’s exciting, Doug. Does this grandchild belong to your kid who is married to a Cubs fan? That makes the kid half Cubs fan.
Anyone else who can’t make it? Less people we can limit to an hour instead of an hour and a half. I guess we’ll play by ear.

Great meeting today even if it was just a few of us. I made it at the same time next week for our west coast contingent. If during the week, it pops up that there are time conflicts, I can always change the time. Just let me know by Wednesday before all the time slots fill up.

Thanks. Great day in the sunshine.
She's our only grandchild, my oldest son's. It is a sports-mixed family, but more of a football family--he's a Packers fan and his wife is a Colts fan. For baseball she comes from a Cardinals family, so there is a possible divisional conflict if the Reds get good again.
Our granddaughter is three years old and full of energy--we played freeze tag, duck duck goose and chased her around with a ball after she hit it off a tee until our legs gave out.
Sorry I missed the zoom though.

While our meeting, like Brina said was pretty good, that day you had with your 3 year old granddaughter, was pricelessMike Linn
Ideas for Zoom Meetings
*Note- could move to a weekday or weeknight if we get this to work.
Invite a former player - Joy’s dad???, Doug might have contacts from his research, someone who would be willing to talk without a fee
Invite an author of book we’ve read before- I’m thinking Anne Keane or Kevin Cook, just not sure how we could pull this off
I love chatting with you all but would love other perspectives as well. If anyone else has any ideas, let’s hear them.

It sounded from what Joy said yesterday, that her father might be agreeable to joining us on our ZOOM. Lets see what she says this weekMike Linn,
For those of you not here yesterday, her father is Bob Lillis
I wish I knew former baseball players. I said my less than 6 degrees of separation is that Ken Holtzman’s daughters went to school with be from 6-12 grade. It’s been too long and I’m not on Facebook so I can’t ask. He’s also shy. I’m wondering if my dad knows anyone. Only thing I can think of is that he worked with the sister of the Brewers third base coach for years. Not sure if he’s still in contact though.
I can ask my dad as he knows a former Twins pitcher, Gary Serum. I don’t have good connection as it was far too long ago I was part of Kent Hrbek’s buddies. Was just sharing that story and wow, that was 40 years now
wow I haven't heard Hrbek's name in years. guy had some power. I remember that explosive seeing her had, like the Pedro of hitters, all arms.i don't think I have any former players in my Rolodex but will keep it in mind and would love to join.
If you`d like in, join us on the other thread- 2020 spring training, & don`t be timid, the others would be along in a bit. WelcomeMike Linn
Sunday is going to be hectic here. My son Mendel is moving back into his dorm - just down the street- and I have to help him because my husband works all day. Live classes start on Monday so Sunday will be his last day home for awhile. I could do Wednesday of this week or we could skip until the next week. Chris and Joy said they had a commitment on Sunday as well. I know Mike you really look forward to this meeting so I could start meeting make Lance moderator and then leave. Just let me know what the consensus is and I’ll work around everyone else’s schedules.
Of course I love this, but it`s better when we`re as many as can be. I`m good with what works for the majority. Pick a day & time & I`m inMike Linn
As it stands for me right now tomorrow is problematic and the for the rest of the month, until the 25th, Tuesday’s and Wednesday will be difficult as I have to get the girls to and from school those days. Ah the joys of schools re-opening for a month.
I’m good either way. Mike is right - the more the merrier, but whatever works for the majority is fine for me.
If enough of you want to participate this week I can start the meeting and make Lance the moderator so I am free to leave. Just let me know.
Sundays still work best for me in general so I’d rather keep as is but I don’t want to let anyone down who was looking forward to this week.
Sundays are still okay here - I've just been forgetting to hop in, and then I suddenly remember by midafternoon when it's likely been over for hours lol. I'll do better!
