Kylee (kyleeraereader) So for the month of January, their are a few different read-along choices I'm going to offer up and I will host the most popular one or more, depending on what you guys want.

The first option is reading The Madman's Daughter and Her Dark Curiousity by Megan Shepard, books 1 and 2 in the series to prepare for the final book, A Cold Legacy, coming out on January 27, 2014.

The next option is reading The Young Elites by Marie Lu, a book that came out in October and one that I have been wanting to read.

And finally, a book of your choice. If you have any ideas or suggestions for what to read, post it on here and in a few days, I'll start a voting poll to see what we will be reading this month!

Legend is a great series, I would have no problem re-reading it :)

It's a great book, it's really spooky and dark and with lots of twists. I'm super excited for the last one to come out.

message 7: by Maisie (new)

Maisie I don't own the young elites but would like to read so I could get it as an Ebook.

I wouldn't mind a read-along for Legend- just got the box set for Christmas so it's all ready to go... and I may have already blown all my Christmas money on other books so I seriously can't afford to buy any more right now! :/

If we do a read-along with a book you don't have, you can always check at the library if you have one close to you, that's actually where I get a lot of my books from :)

I know you loved Red Rising. Would you want to do a read along for The Golden Son? I've already pre-ordered it and would love to read it along with other people, too!

You're right, I adored Red Rising, but I thought Golden Son was coming out later in the month so I haven't pre-ordered it yet D: I'll let you know if I do and I would love to do a read along! Great idea :)

I was going to start it today, but it seems like a few people would like to do a read along with it so I think I'll wait and see :)

message 18: by Kylee (new)

Kylee (kyleeraereader) Okay guys so I'm definitely going to be planning a Throne of Glass series read-along next month since a lot of people seem into that. I'll start planning the dates and event and put is up ASAP but for now you have a bit of time to get the books if you want to participate :)

message 19: by Kylee (new)

Kylee (kyleeraereader) That being said, how long on average does it take everyone to read a book? I'm a very quick reader and want to plan it so everyone has time to finish :)

message 20: by Kate Elizabeth (new)

Kate Elizabeth (k_hodgeyyy) Yeah same for me. A lot of people say that it's really fast paced so I should be able to get through it pretty quick.. as long as I'm not too busy with work and stuff that is :)

message 21: by Selina (new)

Selina (sleenorneenor) I got through all three books within one week. Can't wait to see what everyone has to say about these books :)

It depends on what I have going on at school, sometimes it can take me pretty long, and sometimes it doesn't.

message 23: by Grace (new)

Grace (graceisinspace) | 160 comments But I'm not sure whether or not I will participate yet

Golden Son comes out on Jan 6th. I pre-ordered it, but I don't think I'll read it the day I get it because Firefight comes out the same day and I want to read that one first. Also, I'm in the middle of three other book club books, so I probably won't get to the Golden Son until closer to the end of January.

I would really like to read The young elites by Marie Lu. It's one of the many books I've been wanting to read and then it'll be an excuse to read it :)

Audrey Webster (audreywebster) | 9 comments I would love to read The Young Elites. I also loved the first two books in the Madman's Daughter trilogy and I'm soooooo excited for the A Cold Legacy.

Sounds like fun! I'm so glad more people will be reading Throne of Glass soon! I probably will not be participating in the read-along though. I have already read and loved all the books, novellas, and short stories (released so far) in this series and I need to read the books currently in my tbr pile. I hope you all end up enjoying it as much as I did :)

A Thousand Pieces of You or The Young Elites.

I've heard mixed reviews of both so I want to read them for myself. Plus I own both of them so I could join the read along right away.

message 38: by Marcella (new)

Marcella | 36 comments I see that Legend is currently winning in the polls. I don't mind re-reading the series! Though I voted for The Young Elites. Been on my to-read list for a while now

message 39: by Selina (new)

Selina (sleenorneenor) I hadn't even heard of The Young Elites, I've just had to look it up, it sounds really interesting, and would love to read this. I did still vote for Legend though, just because its one of those books I've been meaning to read for so long now.

message 40: by Heather (new)

Heather (hersecretsmile) I should be getting a copy of The Young Elites from my library soon, so I vote for that book. :)

message 41: by Kylee (new)

Kylee (kyleeraereader) So what I need to know is if when we do a read-along, do you guys want me to just set an amount of time to read the whole book, have a discussion page up for the book then we can just talk about it when we finish? Or I can set it up so there is a discussion up for like every five chapters if you want to discuss what you're reading with others without worrying about spoilers?

Either way is fine with me, I just want you guys to be able to do it how you'd like :)

Not sure this will be my first read along may have a time limit to read the book because I like to just read through it maybe if we discussed every few chapters

I think we should give everyone at least a month to finish the book. This way people have time to get the book and read it. For the discussion page I think it would be a good idea to have discussions for every few chapters (split depending on the length of the book). Maybe even a separate one for overall thoughts after reading the entire book.

That sounds good to me. This way everyone will know what discussions to avoid to keep from being spoiled.

message 45: by Grace (new)

Grace (graceisinspace) | 160 comments Maybe let everyone read the book at their own pace, but have separate discussions so that everyone can read the book at their own pace but still do so without worrying about spoilers. As they read a section, they can comment on the discussion for that section of the book, and then at the end they can share their thoughts on the whole book :-)

Most people said they could finish a book in a few days, so I think I'll cut it down to a week or so, that way we could managed to fit in two or three books this month, so everyone can get the opportunity to participate in at least one, you know? If you guys think that's do-able :)

What about at least two weeks then? I'm not that slow of a reader, but I need the time more for actually obtaining the book.

message 48: by Grace (new)

Grace (graceisinspace) | 160 comments I probably won't be able to read the book in a week. I'll need to time to get the book, and I also have school and homework, with midterms coming up. If I don't have school, it would definitely be doable, but I do have school. If I don't participate in this one, maybe I can over February or April break :-)
