Edgar Wells Even in the first story of this book, I have learned three things
The first thing is that there doesn’t always have to be a happy ending. Sometimes things don’t go properly, something bad happens, perhaps out of nowhere. A good ending isn’t always good.
The second is that the characters aren’t always ideal. They make mistakes, or have flaws, or are simply misguided. Miscommunication happens and good intentions don’t always lead to good actions. A perfect character isn’t a realistic or relatable one.
The final one is that characters don’t have to survive everything. If you’re always sure that they make it through, conflict seems less important and the story will lack tension. If you don’t have that confidence, it cements the idea that anything can happen, plot twists can be surprising, and a sense of realism is achieved in the nature of an unknown future.
