Laureen | 11 comments How many times have you reread the books? Which book do you reread the most?

message 2: by Laureen (new)

Laureen | 11 comments My family says I'm obsessed (true). I would reread every book as each new book came out and I do a full reread of all the books every few years. I enjoy them each time and usually either learn something new or remember some detail I have forgotten. I reread all of them but I really enjoy learning about Voldemort's past in Book 6 and the interactions with Harry and Dumbledore. I also love rereading the final battle with Harry and Voldemort in Book 7.

Julia | 180 comments I think I have read the series three times, but each book was read to me once before I read them. Deathly Hallows I have read about 5.5 times. (After the first half of the movie came out, I just read the last half of the book.) I also did a re-read in French of every book so as to practice the language!

I believe it. I am not even sure how many times I have reread it but I am sure I will reread it again!

Dominika Piela | 1 comments Three times

message 10: by Rowan (new)

Rowan Colleary | 1 comments I just started my 3rd re-read of the entire series last month, and I’m about to finish Deathly Hallows today. Rereading these books was the best thing I did all quarantine!

message 11: by Keri (new)

Keri | 13 comments I've read the entire series 9 times according to goodreads. I plan to read through again this year as it has been a couple years since the last. I always read the entire series through each time so I haven't read one more than the others but I do tend to favor Order of the Phoenix and Deathly Hallows.

message 12: by elisia_spiering (new)

elisia_spiering I have lost track of how many times I have reread the series. I know, out of all of the books, I have read the first one the most because my parents didn't let me read the second or third one for a year after I read the first one.

Sarah (sarahpotempa) | 18 comments I read the whole series once every year! I start during Band Book Week (since The Sorcerer's Stone is a "band book") and I read till I am done. Some years takes me longer than others. Even though my favorite is Goblet of Fire, I only read each one of them once a year. It is like visiting a friend who lives far away. I did reread all of the books before new ones came out. This will be my 14th year reading the whole series. I love it, my husband thinks I am nuts, LOL!

message 14: by j. m. (new)

j. m. (jamesons) | 2 comments Oddly I didn't read HP in my childhood. Only in my adult escapes to childhood fantasy reading has it captivated me. I think I read them for the first time somewhere around 2018, after having seen the movies as they came out over the years and finally getting around to it. Needless to say, we've been good friends since, and I'm on my third or fourth complete reread with some occasional rereads to my favorites over the years.

message 15: by Keri (new)

Keri | 13 comments I didn't read them for the first time until 2007 when I was in my 30's. I had seen all the movies (up til then) several times with my kids. Absolutely, loved the books and have since read the series through 9 times and will likely do the 10th read through this year. I love re-reading my favorite books, it is comforting in a way if that makes sense.

message 16: by Ann (new)

Ann Bass | 10 comments I have read all of them twice. I do not know when ill be able to read it again. I'm so busy.

message 17: by Rose (new)

Rose Potter | 46 comments I have no idea how many times I've read them 😂. Too many times to count. I think I've probably read either ps or cos the most. Currently I'm rereading ootp

message 18: by bookhugger (new)

bookhugger about 3 times and watched the movies twice!

message 19: by Amber (new)

Amber Lynn | 6 comments i’m rereading the series again… i was given the first 5 books (hardcover) when i was born (2001) so growing up i watched the movies and learned to read with those books. now, i finally am able to annotate and truly appreciate them. i’m stuck on the 4th book and can’t kick myself to keep reading :(

message 20: by Luffy Sempai (new)

Luffy Sempai (luffy79) | 57 comments I reread all 7 HP books at least 8 or 9 times each. After that I got readers' allergy.

⋆˚࿔kiki˚⋆ {barely active} I actually have no idea how often I've reread them 😂
It's one of the only series I actually own and don't get from the library so whenever I'm bored or don't have anything else to read I'll just randomly pick one up and start reading it again.

message 22: by [deleted user] (new)

the 3rd book! im like rereading it for the 4th time.

message 23: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer | 30 comments I think I've read the entire series four times. it's funny because I've been thinking of rereading it again lol my favorite book is Goblet of Fire and I think I may have read that one 5 times

Drarry all the wayyyyyy | 12 comments My parents and friends think I'm crazy. I've read the series 181 times since I was 7, and I'm 14 1/2...

omg no way thats crazyyy

message 26: by Zoi (new)

Zoi | 52 comments I probably read them about once a year, but I reread them all. I can’t just read or watch one, I start at the beginning and read/watch them all marathon style. I’ve read them so many times a I don’t even remember. More than 15.

₊˚ ⁀➴ kenzie ⠀❦ jacks’ version | 43 comments I’m currently rereading them for the 7th time lol

message 28: by Caleb (new)

Caleb Summers I'm 27 years old. This is technically my second time reading the series, but never finished the first time around when I was in high school. Anyone in the same boat?

I'm currently in the Goblet of Fire. I saw someone complaining in the book's reviews about the chapter I just finished- The Quidditch World Cup. The comment was a complaint about how the mascots were interfering with the match. The commentor had a problem with the idea that this match should have been the most highly regulated event in the sport, yet it seemed like a lot of leeway was given to the mascots' interference.

However, it seems to me that this chapter is simply a representation that even the most professional, high level wizards and quidditch players can only be so serious. The whole wizarding world (at least those that aren't associated with Lord V) is generally happy-go-lucky and silly. That's my take. Please let me know if this resonates with you or if you disagree. Honestly, I just don't know anyone who is into this series and would love any conversation in any direction.

message 29: by Zoi (new)

Zoi | 52 comments Caleb, I never actually considered this. I think I just figured it was like when Slytherin cheats. They never get called on it. Or, the rogue bludger from Chamber. Why didn’t anyone do anything about that before it broke Harry’s arm? Quiddich seems to be a free-for-all. Just whatever happens, happens, and you have to roll with it, and win anyway.

message 30: by Caleb (new)

Caleb Summers That makes sense. I think sometimes people want fantasy worlds to exist within the parameters of their own. I think quidditch fits very well inside the wizarding world. Maybe it's just fun to complain about things.

Do you have many friends that are also into HP, Zoi?

message 31: by Zoi (new)

Zoi | 52 comments Irl? Mostly just my sisters.

I don’t think I think to question a lot of things, I just immerse myself in the world and go with it. HP is a fun ride. The films are great, but the books are SO much better.

Are there any other series you really like?

message 32: by Caleb (new)

Caleb Summers I got a little into Percy Jackson in middle school. I really liked the new Disney+ series since it's pretty much exactly what the books were. I'm excited for the HP series that's supposed to release on Max in a couple years as well.

message 33: by Zoi (new)

Zoi | 52 comments Have you tried any adult Urban Fantasy? Based on you liking HP and Percy Jackson (which I also love), I think you would enjoy Kate Daniels by Ilona Andrews. Starts with Magic Bites (Kate Daniels, #1) by Ilona Andrews , or Mercy Thompson by Patricia Briggs. Starts with Moon Called (Mercy Thompson, #1) by Patricia Briggs . Right now I’m reading Jacky Leon by KN Banet, and it is very good (so far). Starts with Oath Sworn (Jacky Leon, #1) by K.N. Banet

If you try any of them I’d love to know what you think.
