Would you consider it a Classic, like Emma...or a romance in the classic style?

I've been debating this one too. If you search "classic romance" you get a lot of Bronte and Eyre titles, but I think there is room for interpretation. My debate is whether or not I can consider "The Great Gatsby" to be a classic romance or not. If not, I will likely pick something in the gothic romance genre because straight up classic romance is just not my thing.
I requested a book at the library today that had bits about 16 classic romance novels. I'm not a big romance reader, so I'm looking forward to seeing what they classify as such. I'll share the list when I get it!
I guess when it comes down to it, it is our challenge, so our rules. I like both styles, and have both. Gothic would fall in to the classic if you used like Wuthering Heights.
This is going to be tough for me because I'm trying to complete the challenge with only books containing vampires. If we interpret "classic" as Bronte / Austen / etc. that's not going to work. I figure I'll figure it out at some point.
Isn't there a Pride and Prejudice with vampires? That would fit right in there. I love how you are doing the challenge, by the way!
I think you could classify Dracula as a romance, as well as horror...And, it is definitely Gothic. Then, of course, there is Interview with a Vampire, and Carmilla. Those are classic, and have a love interest that might fit this genre. Again, your challenge, your rules. But, those would be my suggestions if you are going to want Bronte style.
There is a vampire pride and prejudice Vampire Darcy's Desire: A Pride and Prejudice Adaptation
I love your vampire theme a friend of mine is thinking of doing it too
I ended up going with persuasion. It was the first thing that came up when I searched classic romance. Lame I know.

Talked with my librarian today. Since this is originally from the Toronto Library, I figured I would get a librarian's take on the question. She said she felt it meant classic as in Bronte style, not Nora Roberts style.

Lame I know."My Favouite Austen novel and I was half thinking of reading it again for the challenge. Is that cheating though? Ann is my favourite Austen heroine I think :) I hope you like it.
I think I might read the Three Musketeers as my classic romance. I had planned last year to read all the D'Artagnan Romances by with college and work I didn't get the time. Hopefully this year!
