Lusie & I will be reading this starting Sun, 14th June, if anyone is interested, do jump in :)

Lisette (illusie) | 3233 comments Thanks for making the thread!
I like this author so I expect I'll enjoy it.

Tien (tiensblurb) | 9035 comments Mod
hey, Lusie. I found out this week that my library is opening doors on Monday and guess what... I still haven't finish reading all the books I borrowed from BC ha ha ha.

Reading hard and have still got 2 to go, will take me 2-3 days so I'll be behind a little with this (:

Lisette (illusie) | 3233 comments I'll wait with reading, since if I start I might not want to stop lol
Let me know when you are ready to start! I don't mind waiting for you

Tien (tiensblurb) | 9035 comments Mod
ok - be 2-3 days max!

Lisette (illusie) | 3233 comments It's okay if it is longer. Would you prefer to start next week Sunday, since you like to start buddy reads on Sunday's? Then you don't have to rush.

It's great that your library is opening again!

Tien (tiensblurb) | 9035 comments Mod
I don't mind, Lusie - I've got it in my head that we're starting on Sunday even if I don't officially read it on the Sunday lol

Lisette (illusie) | 3233 comments lol sure then we keep the starting day this week, when you are ready

Tien (tiensblurb) | 9035 comments Mod
I can start tomorrow, Lusie :)

Lisette (illusie) | 3233 comments Sounds good with me. I just finished the book I was reading

Tien (tiensblurb) | 9035 comments Mod
You can start tonight, if you like... well, I don't know whether it's night or day for you but you can start. I'm not working tomorrow so could probably start reading during the day :)

message 12: by Lisette (last edited Jun 16, 2020 11:26PM) (new) - rated it 4 stars

Lisette (illusie) | 3233 comments I just had breakfast :D It's 8:30am here. I'll problably pick out a book I can finish in 1 day. I have the day off so that should be doable. Then tomorrow I can start reading the butterfly room.

I have got a couple of days off and don't have to work until tuesday. I'm still a student so have class on friday. I yet have to turn in a couple of assignments. They are as good as done. I just need to scan a few things that I need to attach with it. So I should have plenty of time to read too.

wow you sound totally organised! good on you - & well deserved break!

My plan tomorrow morning is to go to the library, after dropping boys at school, to return books I've had since Feb & maybe borrow some more... well, no maybe. I have a list so unless I can't find any of them, I will be borrowing lol

message 14: by Lisette (last edited Jun 16, 2020 11:35PM) (new) - rated it 4 stars

Lisette (illusie) | 3233 comments lol Yes I am very organised, you got that right. I think today I will just relax and finish up tomorrow. I don't have much to do anyway.

You sure had them for so long! It will be fun to pick out new books! You should just pick up some that look good to you. lol no I am a bad influence trying to get you to read books that are not on the list ;-)

I have The Dilemma to review, so think I'll read it today

Tien (tiensblurb) | 9035 comments Mod
well my other library (the one near office) just extended all current loans to 30 September so I'll have those even longer!

Not having much to do sounds like heaven lol Enjoy your day :D

Lisette (illusie) | 3233 comments Did you already finish those that are extended until September?
btw where you able to finish the other books?

I agree! It's been such a busy period. So I'll enjoy a few days of doing nothing.

message 17: by Tien (new) - rated it 3 stars

Tien (tiensblurb) | 9035 comments Mod
no. I keep picking them up and putting them back down lol

I've got 1 short one to go which I think I should be able to finish tonight.

Lisette (illusie) | 3233 comments lol maybe you need a buddy read for them ;-) Which books do you keep putting down again?

That's awesome you will be able to finish that one tonight

message 19: by Tien (new) - rated it 3 stars

Tien (tiensblurb) | 9035 comments Mod
a couple of them are in Bahasa Indonesia which is why I kept putting them back down; too much effort lol

The rest I'd actually enjoy, if only I don't get distracted easily

Lisette (illusie) | 3233 comments lol now I understand why you keep putting them down
Let's hope you won't get too many distractions. One can always hope. I didn't get much reading done yet today.

Lisette (illusie) | 3233 comments I've read "Admiral House, Aouthwold Suffolk". Which is about Posy when she is 7 years old (world war 2).

That second half of the last sentence I do agree with and set my teeth on edge and probably one reason why I dropped it earlier on.

I didn't manage to read much yesterday as I had a bit of a headache but I did manage to read up to where I left off last lol (end of chapter 2)

And then... I flipped and read the blurb on the back of the book. Ugh! 'family secrets' I. hate. that. phrase.

You're doing to have to pull me through this, Lusie, lol

Lisette (illusie) | 3233 comments You are ahead of me. I didn't feel like reading yesterday evening, so watched television instead. I'm still somewhere in chapter 1. I love the description of her garden. It sounds stunning.

I like this kind of books with family secrets. I haven't read the back of the book, so am going in blind.

lol I'll do my best.

Tien (tiensblurb) | 9035 comments Mod
I've read up to the end of ch 6 :D

(view spoiler)

Lisette (illusie) | 3233 comments I'm looking forward to read your spoiler, but will have to wait until I had the chance to read it. I had classes this morning and in the afternoon my sister is coming for a visit. So I probably won't be able to catch up, but who knows!

message 26: by Tien (last edited Jun 19, 2020 06:00PM) (new) - rated it 3 stars

Tien (tiensblurb) | 9035 comments Mod
Not to worry, Lusie... I'll just keep plodding along as I continue to multiple read anyway :) So, I'm sure you'll catch up sooner than later! Then, I'll be the one to scramble ha ha ha

message 27: by Lisette (last edited Jun 19, 2020 11:14PM) (new) - rated it 4 stars

Lisette (illusie) | 3233 comments I already catched up. I had time to read in the evening.
The next chapter for me to read is chapter 9.

(view spoiler)

Tien (tiensblurb) | 9035 comments Mod
LOL that didn't take long... I'll do some catching up tonight; if I managed to keep awake -bit sleepy atm :)

Lisette (illusie) | 3233 comments I like the writing style of this author so for me this is an easy read. The problem is finding time to sit down to read lol But this weekend should be easier. I don't have many things planned.

It's probably already late where you are. If you don't catch up today, then there is always tomorrow :-)

message 30: by Tien (new) - rated it 3 stars

Tien (tiensblurb) | 9035 comments Mod
nah, I've just finished dinner... it's 7:15pm so still quite early :)

Lisette (illusie) | 3233 comments That's not late at all :D Plenty of time to catch up

message 32: by Lisette (last edited Jun 20, 2020 08:39AM) (new) - rated it 4 stars

Lisette (illusie) | 3233 comments Ehm, Tien...I'm just a little bit *cough* ahead of you.
I'm at chapter 25. It was lovely weather to read while sitting in the garden in the shade of the apple tree. So that is what I did. Sorry for going so fast!

I'm enjoying it so far, but think you'd probably not like one of the story lines...

I think the family secrets are easy to guess, but not sure yet if I'm right.

I think I should pick out another book otherwise I would finish it in no time! lol

Up to chapter 24

Tien (tiensblurb) | 9035 comments Mod
LOL I'm not that far behind actually... I think I'm up to chapter 19.

I only meant to read for an hour but I think I went for 1.5 hours, I couldn't put it down but then I stalled big time because I could see where things were going and I. got. ticked.

Yes! to all your spoilers in #27 although I hope differently for Tammy :/

Sorry but I think I need to be distracted a bit with other books during daytime so I'll only continue in the evening with this one :)

And I wish it's nice outside today but it's grey & very very wet...

Lisette (illusie) | 3233 comments That's actually not that far at all :D Though I'm now at chapter 27.
They are hinting at another family secret.

Sounds like you enjoyed the book, until you got to the story line that I knew you wouldn't like. I understand why you want to read more other books, but nice that you still want to continue.

Shame about the weather.

I only meant to catch up to you but errr, after a few rough chapters, I just couldn't put it down soooo I've , 1 hr 20 mins past my bedtime 🤣

Chat tomorrow x

Lisette (illusie) | 3233 comments LOL That's a good thing, sounds like you are enjoying it. I hope you don't have to wake up very early tomorrow!

All good, it really wasn't that late ha ha ha. 11:20pm is ok even if I tell myself bedtime is 10pm, I rarely actually be in bed by that time lol

Okay, here it is...

(view spoiler)

All I could think of atm even if I probably had a lot more thoughts last night... I'll come back later if I remember something else :)

Thanks for buddy reading with me Lusie ❤️❤️❤️
I probably whine too much as always so I hoped this hasn't soured your experience with buddy read lol
Btw, I've been eyeing the author's sister(?) series... you know me quite well by now, do you think I'd like those?

message 38: by Lisette (last edited Jun 21, 2020 11:22PM) (new) - rated it 4 stars

Lisette (illusie) | 3233 comments I finished the book last night. And I liked it.

(view spoiler)

You are welcome. I enjoyed this book and it was fun to read it with you.

I did enjoy the seven sisters series. There are 6 books so far. Each of the sisters are trying to find out their roots. The romances in the books are lacking, but the writing is good and it mainly is a historical book. Lots of family dramas. There are usually two points of views. One of the sisters and a person from the past. I think you'd like it.
