Both levels
Level One:
Read 3 books that take place in your home nation. If you live in the US you can choose to use your state instead.
California
1.

The action takes place in a cozy fictional town near Los Angeles.
2.

This series revolves around a private detective agency set in Salinas, near beautiful Monterey, though in this installment the group drives to a sales convention in awesome San Francisco.
3.

Series normally takes place in Texas, but in this particular book the mc and her s.o. take a working trip to Palm Springs, renown for midcentury architecture.
Read 1 book that is set in your state's capital city Sacramento:
1.

Level Two
List 4 things or places you love about your state then read a book that somehow reflects that attribute or place, telling us how. You can be as creative as you like.
[note: I ended up doing 6 as it was hard to choose what to include]
1. Beaches -

We are known for awesome beaches and boardwalks. This book is set in a fictional beach town in Southern California.
2. Lakes -

Our state has many breathtaking mountain lakes. This particular series' location is based on author's hometown of beautiful Lake Tahoe.
3. Wineries/vineyards -

We are also known worldwide for our wines, and there are several wine regions. This particular story is set in a wine region in Central California.
4. Golden Gate Bridge -

There is just something so welcoming about the sight of the iconic Golden Gate Bridge, set in the San Francisco Bay. This story is set in the San Francisco Bay Area, and at one point the mc stays at the glam Fairmont Hotel, in a room with a view of Golden Gate.
5. Gold Country -

The famous California Gold Rush occured in the Sierra Nevada foothills. The first discovery of gold was at Sutter's Mill in Coloma in 1848. That town is the setting of this cozy mystery. The MC lives nearby in Placerville, which was also part of the Gold Rush, and takes care of business in Georgetown, which is yet another gold mining town.
6. Hollywood/theme parks/Universal Studios -

One can't finish off a California snapshot without mentioning Hollywood, with a nod to all the fun stuff like Universal Studios and theme parks (Disneyland anyone?). This particular book is a vampire story and could be a metaphor for the "real" Hollywood.
-------------------------oooooo--------------------
I hope you enjoyed this abbreviated visit to some of California's high points. These days we need all the positive armchair/computer travelling we can get!

4. NASCAR - Turn Two - Nancy Warren - 10/16/20

Discover Your Own Country
June 01, 2020 to May 31, 2021
Both levels

I'm getting ready to read my last book for this challenge which will be the same one you used for Sacramento.
