The Lorax by Dr. Seuss is a classic cautionary tale which provides lots of imaginative language, illustrations and rhythm. I've always been familiar with Dr. Seuss and his vast collection of books, however I have never dived into them with a teachers mind. Reading the Lorax sparked lots of idea's to bring into the classroom. The Lorax would be a great introduction for poetry, rhythm, storytelling but also introducing more serious topics such as treasuring our environment. This book allows cross-curricular to take place within the classroom therefore would be very valuable to introduce to children. Not only do I think this book would be useful for the classroom, but Dr. Seuss' combination of 'hilarious stories, zany pictures and riotous rhymes' draws children into his books. They're fun books to read, and encourage children to read for pleasure. The beginning of this book addresses the reader a significant amount. It makes it feel like the 'Once-ler' is generally telling this story to the reader them-self, drawing them into this story more. Overall, this book is a great book to bring into the classroom, no matter what primary age. This book is also a great book to encourage the children to read by themselves.
