this is Century labs a highly advanced chemical and technological testing facility funded by the government and many big companies.

Marie (naturechild02) The yellow tape was still up. There was some heavy equipment in the parking lot but very little had been cleared out of the shell of a building, not yet anyway.

Miyuki was silent as a ghost as she snuck closer, ducked under the police tape and let out a deep breath before she tried the door. Surprisingly, it was unlocked. Sucking in fresh air, she slipped inside to have a look around.
The place was still a wreck. She could no longer move silently because the floor was covered in broken glass and chunks of twisted metal. After holding her breath for 30 seconds she let it out and couldn't help but to breathe in. Then she realized how stupid she was being. She'd already been affected by whatever was in this building. Breathing it in now would make no difference: she was changed.
Miyuki thought about the changes as she strolled leisurely through the building. Right off she'd known something was wrong with her but now she had a better idea. It was still incredible to think about, but she was some kind of mutant being now. She had this power, this ability, that made her different now.
But the ability was a double-edged sword.
After half an hour of walking, and finding nothing useful to give her a better idea of what chemicals had mixed together to do this to her, Miyuki finally gave up and left. This was getting her nowhere.

She had to find the others. The people who'd been here with her when the accident had taken place. Those that weren't dead might be changed too.
The thought made her sigh in relief. Miyuki had always been a loner. But being the only mutant-creature-thing in the world? That was a solidarity that she didn't think she could cope with. There had to be others.
There just had to be.
