If you read all 4 of the Riftwar books it get's even better. There is a whole multiverse out there going right back to the Big Bang.
So, I will finish Magician: Master and probably Silverthorn. But I thought that was the end of the trilogy. What's the fourth?
It's only a trilogy if you read the original single volume 'Magician'. The fourth book in the US version is A Darkness At Sethanon.
There was a short-lived MMO that used the riftworlds mechanic. It had a lot of promise but the execution was not exciting.Throwing all these genres together the way City of Heroes does would be fun, if they could only get away from standard (read: tedious) RPG design.

I'm amused to see that this series now straddles Fantasy and SF. "You thought it was a straight up Fantasy...guess what! We've got suns, planets and a realistic-seeming set of orbital mechanics in the story now!"
