Set in a NZ neighbourhood where a community of interesting characters is preparing for a Waitangi Day festival - "Tumeke". This is a fun and fascinating multi-layered story told through multiple media including notices on a community notice board, emails, texts, diary entries, meeting minutes and even library overdue notices! There is much to examine and absorb, and it warrants being read multiple times - each time you will glean a little bit more. It is funny, entertaining and heart-warming. I had to think hard about what collection to shelve this with! It could have gone with the fiction books, at either the "Funny" or "Realistic" genre sections, or it could sit with Picture Books. But I've decided the best spot for it is with the Graphic Novels - and it certainly won't be overlooked there. Highly recommended - but NOT as a read aloud. :-)
