I've read this before, and am re-reading it again. I'm a big fan of Larry Niven. I find his characters are a bit weak, but his ideas are amazing. Ringworld is full of really cool concepts, even before the story arrives at the artifact.

Some concepts I really like (Spoilers)

-The puppeteers, especially Nessus and his insanity
-The Fleet of Worlds. Unfortunately, this is an unstable system, and couldn't actually work
-The Ringworld itself of course
Niven does a good job of describing how it looks from an observer on the ring. Very mindblowing
