|♟|(view spoiler)[Markus Xavier Thorne, a British bad-boy with way too much time on his hands, or that is at least what his last girlfriend said. Markus grew up in old money, his family making it big in horse racing and boarding. It could be argued that Thorne's were born upon horseback and Markus was no exception. Riding was in his blood, and it coursed through his veins, it was his life source. It was obvious that he was going to take over the family farm. Mark was born the eldest child to Andrew and Evelyn Thorne, a young couple just starting their life together, on a warm day in June. The boy grew up like most: chores, Sunday school, and the more than occasional grounding for seeking out late to ride the horses. Markus' whole world revolved around horses. For his 3rd birthday, he was given a young, cherry bay warmblood and by the time Markus was eight, he and Emerson had already earned four blue ribbons in show jumping and cross-country. Emerson and Markus were the best of friends, both completely understanding and listening to one another, having complete conversations with just one look. On the eve of a cold February night, Evelyn gave birth to a breech baby boy named Aiden before passing away in the night. The shock of losing his mother hit Markus and his father hard, for a week Markus never left the barn - sleeping in Emerson's stall - avoiding his new brother and Andrew started to pull away from his family as well. But over time, Markus accepted his mother's death and tried to have a good relationship with Aiden, which he did. Markus and Aiden spent a lot of time together when they were young, having to stick together because their father was never around but, as they grew up, they grew apart to different interests. Markus still loved horses but Aiden preferred staying inside, closed up in his room reading and studying. Once Aiden turned seven, his father started pressuring Aiden into riding, to hold up the family's reputation, and forcing Markus to take him out on a trail ride after much resisting. The first half of the ride went well, until they started on their way back, and happened to get trapped in a storm, Markus urged they go faster to make it home before the storm got worse. But before they could, Aiden's screams could be heard as the horses bolted and Markus found the ground rushing to meet his face as everything went dark. When Markus awoke, he had found that he had broken his arm, crushed three ribs and that his skin was peppered in bruises and hoof marks. Somehow, a mountain lion came down during the storm causing the horses to bolt and throw both Aiden and Markus off, it was only by some hiker finding the riderless horses that saved Markus' life. Unfortunately, Aiden had been thrown against a tree, hitting his neck against the ground. After the death of his youngest son, Andrew pulled away completely, leaving Markus in the care of housemaids, before he left country. Markus' recovery was long and slow, taking many months but once he was healed, Markus wore himself off horses, saying he was never going to ride again. With horses out of this life, Markus found something else to fill his time and that was partying. At the age of nineteen - a year after Aiden's death - Markus was cut off from his family's money by his father, saying it was time for Markus to learn the harshness of growing up. (hide spoiler)]
