i was thinking since it will be most peoples first time in a buddy read we should maybe keep it to only two people
and maybe we should all read the same book?

I agree. And, can somebody explain how the buddy read system works?

Buddy reading means: reading the same book with your buddy at the same time, together.When starting a book, set a chapter where both of you will stop reading at the same time. Make sure that both of you don’t go any further without talking and discussing about the previous chapters together.

Hiraya, I'm no expert on Buddy Reading, but as far as I know, you and the buddy(ies) read a book together, ie try to read at the same pace, and discuss your thoughts with each other as you continue to read.

anyone think we should discuss some ACOTAR books?

Since it is the first buddy read in this group why don't we all choose a single partner and read a book of our own choice?
