Finbarr (fionnbharr) | 10 comments I've a few suggestions: The Shining or The Haunting of Hill House or Ghost Story.

message 3: by Abby (new)

Abby I'll nominate a classic: The Woman in White.

message 4: by Kristina (last edited Jan 04, 2015 04:24PM) (new)

Kristina I nominate The Name of the Star, I've read it before but it was excellent. I would definitely reread it. Anna Dressed in Blood is on my TBR, so I would nominate either of them. I don't know much about the second book but it is supposed to be on the scary side.

message 5: by JuliaG (new)

JuliaG (juliag74) | 2 comments The third book in Maureen Johnson's Shades of London series releases February 10th, so maybe this would be a chance for some who haven't yet read the first book, The Name of the Star to get started on the series?

I would love to read The Shining!

Erica Watson (dreamsofsplendor) | 2 comments I nominate Texas Gothic by Rosemary Clement-Moore.

message 8: by Ava (new)

Ava I've been wanting to read The Name of the Star, so this would be a good time.

message 9: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Brindle | 12 comments How about Turn of the Screw by Henry James? I remember my English class in high school was supposed to read this, but the school year ended before we finished, so we all only got half way through.

message 10: by Melissa (new)

Melissa | 28 comments Anna Dressed in Blood is on my to-read list!

message 11: by Maya (new)

Maya | 11 comments I would love to read The Shining as well! I've been wanting to read it for a really long time, especially since I love the movie so much :)

message 12: by Maya (new)

Maya | 11 comments I almost forgot but there's a Neil Gaiman book I've been dying to read for a really long time that has to do with ghosts called The Graveyard!

message 13: by Colin (new)

Colin Barrow | 37 comments I suggest Heart-Shaped Box by Joe Hill because I've been enjoying Locke & Key and I like the premise of this novel

I'd love Heart-Shaped Box!

message 15: by Kayla Rayne (new)

Kayla Rayne (kaylarayne) I'm going to say Paper Valentine since it is February and Valentines Day happens. It's double themed!

I was just about to suggest this. It's been on my list for a long time too. It's also a book that's fairly easy to access across different platforms, if anyone has trouble getting books sometimes.

message 17: by Monique (new)

Monique | 22 comments Paper valentine and The name of the star sound great!! I would love to read either of those two

Good point! <3
I also would like to read The Graveyard Book.

message 20: by Annelie (new)

Annelie I'd like to add The Diviners (The Diviners, #1) by Libba Bray to the selection, it's been on my TBR for quite a while now.
Graveyard Book and Paper Valentine sound good, too!

Okay, I added the books that had at least a few people interested in them and we now have 8 to vote between. I think that's a good amount.

I would love to read The Name of the Star - it's been on my shelf for AGES. The Diviners also looks interesting!

message 22: by Mat (new)

Mat | 41 comments Name star seems to be my choice here too although I wouldn't mind some kind of ranked voting system (no idea how it would work) because I definitely have 2nd 3rd and 4th choices too haha

message 23: by Monique (new)

Monique | 22 comments Name of the star is my vote

message 24: by [deleted user] (new)

Name of the Star!!!!!

message 25: by Jenn (new)

Jenn | 1 comments Name of the Star!

message 26: by Bianca (new)

Bianca Bancroft (biancalynnbooks) I'm going to say The Graveyard book for its popularity. It's all over bookstores and I've always wanted to read something by Neil Gaiman

message 27: by Maya (new)

Maya | 11 comments Are we going to be setting up a pill soon?

message 28: by Colin (new)

Colin Barrow | 37 comments The poll is right at the bottom of the main book club page or you should be able to find it here

message 29: by Abby (new)

Abby (abcadab) | 36 comments Anna Dressed in blood!

message 30: by Monique (new)

Monique | 22 comments Have we decided on a winner? I need to get the book!!

message 34: by Joel (last edited Jan 22, 2015 05:54PM) (new)

Joel Ball (jwball) | 7 comments Can't wait to read it. I've never read anything by Maureen Johnson before, although I've heard of her, and I'm eager to try her writing.

EDIT: Of the nominees, The Haunting of Hill House is one I'll have to check out, though. Shirley Jackson's short story The Lottery is one of the best pieces of short fiction ever written.

message 35: by Mary (new)

Mary (bookzlover) I've already read it but I will try to find the motivation to reread it. I want to reread before the 3rd one comes out, but I don't really like rereading books so it's hard to motivate myself.
