Ruby walked out of the girl's dorm and into the common room. She sat at a table, looked outside a bit and started writing a new poem humming a song she liked.
Marigold, with Oatmeal on her shoulder, walked into the common room, and sat in a chair. She picked up her book and started reading, and fed Oatmeal another sunflower seed.
Ever arrived in the common room with her book bag and quill. She sat down on a nearby chair and began going through her Ancient Runes books.
Marigold looked up and saw that someone else had come in. "Hi, I'm Marigold." Oatmeal cooed, "And this is Oatmeal." she said as she fed Oatmeal yet another sunflower seed.
"I'm Ever," she replied, glancing up quickly. "My owl is named Sora, but she's still out flying." She leaned down and scribbled a few more runes.
Marigold smiled. "I'll let you get back to your runes work. I should get started on that."
"Oh I already finished the homework, I'm just studying more because I like runes," Ever said, returning her smile. "Let me know if you need help."
"Thanks." she said, as Oatmeal bit her kinky ponytail. "Ouch, Oatmeal, ouch."
Ever continued writing down runes and translations until Sora tapped on the window. "Sora!" she said, opening the window and letting the barn owl perch on her wrist. She left her quill and bag at her desk and took the owl into her dorm.
Ever returned from the dorm after putting Sora in her cage. She put away her Runes work and took out an Arithmancy book.
Marigold got up and put her book away in the dorm. She came back with her Transfiguration book.
after a while, Ever looked up. "I'm going to go get some sweets from Honeydukes. Do you want anything?" She offered with a smile.
"Ooh, yes, thank you. Could you get me a bar of chocolate? Any kind is fine," Marigold replied.
"I always get chocolate," Ever said, laughing. She left.
Ever returned with a small bag of candy and a stack of chocolate Cauldron Cakes. She gave Marigold a pile of chocolates.
Marigold smiled. "Thank you so much, Ever! You're a lifesaver."
"It's probably not smart to run on chocolate to study, but," Ever popped one in her mouth, "it's definitely worth it." She laughed.
"You bet!" Marigold said, her mouth full of chocolate goodness.
Ever took out her wand. "Well, if you save a few chocolates we can make a pile to multiply the next time we get hungry," she said, pointing at a small mound of candy on the corner of her desk.
"Oh, good idea." She pushed her remaining chocolates into the pile.
Ever smiled absentmindedly, already buried in her Arithmancy number charts.
Marigold went back to studying Transfiguration.
As the girls studied, a fuming Hadley Grove stormed into the room. She stomped over to a chair and plopped down on it. Hadley quickly got her spellbook from her satchel and began reading.
Ever glanced up. "What happened?" she asked.
Hadley sighed. "I get so tired of kids not taking their classes seriously. They joke about the teachers, which is so disrespectful! It's like they just don't care about school or work anymore."
She stole a glance at Ever. "What are you working on anyways?"
She stole a glance at Ever. "What are you working on anyways?"
"My number charts for Arithmancy," Ever replied. "It's really all must extra work since I finished the homework already." She smiled. "Do you want a chocolate? We have a bit."
"Oh, no, I'm good. I just brushed my teeth."
She then continued reading her spellbook until (Oh my, my cat is attacking my laptop) she heard loud talking from another student.
'Can't they see we're working here?'

'Can't they see we're working here?'
Ever rolled her eyes. "I wish I could use the Silencing Charm." She thought about it. "I don't actually know any spells that block out sounds. That would be helpful."
Hadley stood up and huffed. 'How could I have been so forgetful?' She quickly turned and walked up the stairs towards the girls dormitory. She had completely forgotten about the essay due for Transfiguration.
Ever put away her Arithmancy papers and took out her spells books.
As Ever started to study, Ainsley fell down the last couple steps. She landed in a heap at the bottom. Everyone turned their heads to look at her. Ainsley's cheeks flamed as she stood up and smoothed out her skirt. She positioned her satchel back at her side and she strode towards Ever and Marigold.
"Hi, I'm Ainsley Softone. I'm a third year as well. I moved here from Belgium! I attended a small magic school there, but I didn't like it much. Who are you guys?"
"Hi, I'm Ainsley Softone. I'm a third year as well. I moved here from Belgium! I attended a small magic school there, but I didn't like it much. Who are you guys?"
"I'm Ever Sterling," Ever introduced herself, "I'm in fourth year. Muggle-born, so I went to a Muggle school for a while."
"Same! Muggle school was kind of hard. It was hard to fit in. I once set a stack of math books on fire on accident. Of course, then I didn't know I was a witch, so I thought I was physic or something like that!"
Ainsley sat in the chair next to Marigold and pulled out her reading glasses. She tied her greasy blond hair back in a ponytail and began to read one of her favorite books, Alice in Wonderland.

Hadley came back down the stairs with parchment, quills, and books in her arms. As she passed Ainsley, she stared snoopily at her book. "What are you reading? Is that a MUGGLE BOOK?" She asked curiously. ((Don't mind the all caps, I don't know how to slant))
Ever gave Ainsley a quick smile, then went back to studying her spells.
"Is that Alice In Wonderland?" Ever asked. "It's a popular Muggle book, but I never read it."
Ainsley looked at her book and then at Hadley and Ever.
"Why, yes it is! It is a muggle book. It's my favorite, actually."
"Why, yes it is! It is a muggle book. It's my favorite, actually."
Ainsley's attention wondered over to the towering bookshelves in the far corner. She got up and skimmed the bookshelves. There were no Muggle books in sight. 'There are only wizarding books! What about all the lovely Muggle books?'
"Well, Hogwarts is a Wizarding school," Ever reminded her. "You could ask the Muggle Studies professor about Muggle books, but it's unlikely that you'll find anything in the library."
"Hmmm, that's true. I guess I kind of miss the Muggle ways. The magic school in Belgium was right next to my house, so I'd go there for a day, and then come home. Hogwarts is hours away from home. It's okay, though! This place is amazing! Have you been here all 4 years?"
"Yeah, I love it here. Partly because my family is... well, my parents are Muggles so they don't understand anything about me. It's really nice to be away from them," Ever admitted. "Besides, the train ride is fun. I get to buy Wizarding sweets." She grinned.
Marigold, exhausted from her studying, got up from her chair and stretched. "What time is it?" she asked, feeding the never full Oatmeal a peanut.
"About 7," Ever replied, glancing up at the clock.

"Oh," Marigold undid her ponytail, and then redid it. "I guess it's almost dinner time, then."
"Do you want to go down to the Great Hall?" Ever asked. "I probably won't have too much because of all the chocolate, but I'm definitely a bit hungry."
"Yeah," Marigold said, walking into the dormitory to put Oatmeal in her cage. She fed Oatmeal a handful of peanuts and sunflower seeds before coming back and asking, "Are you guys coming too?"
Ainsley entered the common room yawning. She grabbed her book from earlier and went up the stairs to the girls dormitory. (Goodnight y'all! I'm gonna go! Let's start role playing tomorrow after our OCs wake up!)
