"Of Mice and Men" is a classic piece of literature. I would say that this Steinbeck novella is one of my top twenty favorite books. I do think it is probably boring for teens, but the themes are timeless. Steinbeck won the Nobel Prize for Literature and in his speech he cited the necessity of literature in our world. "Of Mice and Men" teaches that sometimes we can have the best laid plans, but they do not always come to fruition. Revisit this book as an adult, you will see it differently. I am a teacher and currently my students are reading this novella. I love it!

it's one of the best books I've ever read. it's so powerful and really makes you think. I didn't find it predictable, but rather suspenseful as I couldn't wait to turn the page and find out what was going to happen. The time setting it is in, is why I found it so suspenseful because things could have gone in so many directions. I also love this book because the ending makes you think and the more you think about the ending you discover something new about your self and as you go through life you can Think about that ending and your able to understand it the older you are. It is an amazing novel.
I read this book during the summer after grade 10 and was blown away with how amazing it was. Once you look past the story and really analyze what everything means, thats when you can see how incredible this book is. Steinbeck its quite a thought provoking and insightful author that is quite a pleasure to read.
Because of its 'boring' theme, to most young people it wouldn't be of interest because it doesn't have any vampires or zombies. I've just read this for my school subject and enjoyed It a lot. Maybe because it has various themes woven Into one (isolation, loneliness, sexism, racism, poverty, etc) that it approaches so many things that privileged Caucasian people wouldn't understand.
