Emma | meadowroselibrary Here you can chat about whatever you want! (With reason πŸ˜‰)

So I'll start a chat with asking, what's y'all's favorite books?

message 2: by Emma (new)

Emma (emmasbookishdiary) I have too many! But some of them would be The Fairest Beauty by Melanie Dickerson, The Golden Braid by Melanie Dickerson, and The Piper’s Pursuit by Melanie Dickerson. Basically all of her books qualify as favorites.πŸ˜‚
More would be The Hope of Azure Springs by Rachel Fordham, Little Women by L.M. Alcott, Anne of Green Gables by L.M. Montgomery, and The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S.Lewis. Recently I’ve added Jen Turano to favorites too. πŸ˜‰

Emma | meadowroselibrary I'm dying to read a Connilyn Cossette one of these days!
lol I like how you've added Jen Turano Emma. :D ;D

Emma | meadowroselibrary Hopefully soon! πŸ˜„

message 5: by Emma (new)

Emma | meadowroselibrary Awesome! That was the exact one I was looking into!! πŸ˜„

Maria | 52 comments Yes Counted with the Stars was really good!

My favourite books are by Tessa Afshar. 'Pearl in the Sand' is definitely one of my favourites, and 'Harvest of Gold' and 'Harvest of Rubies' was also sooooo good!
Also love Karen Witemeyer's 'Short Straw Bride'. Can't forget Melanie Dickerson's 'The Fairest Beauty'.

However, my all time favourite novel is 'The Pilgrim's Progress' by John Bunyan!!

Emma | meadowroselibrary Yes Short-Straw Bride was AMAZING!! :) And I also loved The Pilgrim's Progress! :D

I have the Selection book 1 on hold! I just haven't started it because I am reading so many other books right now! πŸ˜‚ I guess I should really start it?!?!

YES!!! My favourite in the Narnia series was The Last Battle too!
So well-written!

message 15: by Ella (new)

Ella Ferris (eferris) I love Narnia as well! And the Lord of the Rings.

message 16: by Maria (new)

Maria | 52 comments Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter are completely different.
Although Lord of the Rings does have magical elements, it's always super important to know the messages/themes behind the novel and LOTR actually has decidedly 'Christian' values/messages in the novels. Tolkien was also Catholic and shared many Christian values. Tolkien and Lewis were very good friends and they actually plotted out their books together (which is why you can sometimes see some similarities between their novels).
Whereas JK Rowling said in some interviews that she let the spirits guide her in the writing of her books (and she definitely didn't mean the Holy Spirit).

Hey all - I just recently found out, that I have a church friend who is an author. We have known each other about a year and we started talking about books and she told me. I was like "what"? She has written two YA books, with a 3rd one about to be published, all in a series. I am picking up her books soon (signed copies) and would love to get your feedback too. Please check her out and give a honest review of her books.

That Prince Guy: A Snow White Retelling and This Glass Heart: A Cinderella Retelling by Mariah K. Porter.

I also found another ratings/review site which I thought might be helpful to us all: https://mybookcave.com/mybookratings/

We are picking up the July BOTM book tomorrow. Can't wait to read it with Hailey and you all.

Emma | meadowroselibrary Awesome thank you for sharing that Ann!! That looks interesting! And that's so awesome that it's a friend of yours!

Can't wait to hear what you think about The Healer's Apprentice! :)

I've put ALL my books up for free (as ebooks) for the next five days. Book 3 will be free tomorrow. Hope this link works. If not, go look for the title. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07Z9D833Y

message 27: by Summer (new)

Summer (wallaby_27) Well, the obvious answer would be read ;) but other than that I've been watching a lot of movies, baking, and going on long walks.

Hey all. I hope you are all doing well and those that are in school are studying hard whether in classroom or virtual.

So, I just thought to start a discussion as I really think this group has great potential and I was excited to join it with my daughter. But we no longer have any moderators and no one is really talking anymore. Do y'all still want this group?

This is your group, started by y'all and it is a great group. My daughter has mentioned it to many others. But you need a moderator. I have experience running groups (not on goodreads) and would be happy to take the position as the adult, but I don't want to step on anyone's toes and take it away from you. I do think there should be at least 2 other moderators from the group who are in the age group that this started for. I could just be an overseer while the other 2 run it.

Please let me know your thoughts? I would love to hear from y'all.

Samantha | 158 comments Hey Ann! I don’t know about anyone else, but I think it is an awesome idea for you to be a moderator! I am no longer one (prob bcuz I am just not cut out to do the job). In my opinion I think that’d be good. Idk. Anyone else?

message 37: by Emma (new)

Emma (emmasbookishdiary) I also think that would be great!❀️

message 38: by Summer (new)

Summer (wallaby_27) sounds good to me :)

message 39: by Ella (new)

Ella Ferris (eferris) Yeah, this is such a great group, and it has a lot of potential to become even better, so I think it's a good idea!

message 40: by Avery (new)

Avery Pafford | 131 comments Ok... this is a long list. So I am just going give the jist. I absolutely LOVED Carry On, Wayward Son, and Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell. I also loved Sal and Gabi break the universe and Sal and Gabi Fix the Universe by Carlos Hernandez. One of my favorite book series (Fairy Tale Reform School by Jen calonita) Sadly came to an end with Cursed. There A BUNCH more but these are some of my highlights. I would STRONGLY recommend any one of these books to any one.

message 41: by sumayyah (last edited Oct 05, 2020 10:48AM) (new)

sumayyah (sumayyaha) I have a few books I love but I don't know if they would be considered clean exactly so I won't mention them though they are YA. My favorite books of the year so far hmm..
Holes, just blew me away and I'm still trying to put my finger on why..
Halt's Peril OMG seeing the gang back together in this book and being SO wholesome I just love them to death, It's one of my favorite medieval series (I need more).
Little Women Because how could I not love Lori and Jo and the whole family dynamic honestly..
Artemis Fowl Reading this for the first time I know I'm late but only cause no one told me Artemis was such a devious character, had I known beforehand I would've jumped on this a looong time ago.
Among the Hidden This series actually surprises me and is so addicting for something so short..
