Hi team! Thanks for setting up the thread, Almeta. I have just requested a library book that will work for Wild draw four (one main character is an artist) and Six in Hand One (sixth book in a series). Not sure how busy work will be that week, but I can definitely commit to reading that book, if that works for the team.
A Common Life: The Wedding Story
Here are the first Hand 1
4 ~ Renee volunteers, blue
Wild
4 ~ Almeta volunteers, starting with F
6 ~ Laura volunteers, 6th in series
Reverse
5 ~ Carol volunteers, red
Wild Draw 4 ~ Laura volunteers, an artist (1 book for two tasks!)

Thanks for posting that too Almeta. I just want to add that I'm open to changing my book or taking another task if that's better for the team. Just wanted to throw that one out there since I already had planned on reading it.
Hello!I bave already done a little gophering. Not sure how much I can read right now. Going to aim for 2. I have a couple books I'd like to read and they fit a few cards. I'll list them here tomorrow.
Because of uno, I was thinking we could use cuatro instead of four. Weirdly Cuatro Fourmaggio came in to my mind. I know it's a pizza (and it's a total mix of spellings and languages, haha). My brain isn't working too fast right now so I can't think of anything that's actually good. Haha .
Actually, I'll list the book I definitely want to read. Dawn. It fits card 1 as it is first in a series and author begins with O. It also fits for card draw 2 as title begins with D. I have a couple stand alone books which would work for card 0 too.

Quatro Fourmaggio! Sarah that's tooooo funny. I like it!

Laura, I added your book to the spreadsheet. I think that is a good start.

OK, sounds good. I will do some gophering on Hand Two to see what else I might be able to find, in case I have time to read more than one book. I rely on the library & now we have to make appts. for contactless pickup, which is weird for me since I used to go to the library often during toppler weeks lol.
Almeta, I did try and open the spreadsheet and it didn't let me, so I requested permission - that is totally fine if that's what you want, but just letting you know that's what happened when I tried to get in.
I'm also going to come up with a little list of short books I have already read that someone could use for Reverse, if they wanted. It's nice that task is so wide open!
It's only with a q in italian, c in spanish. I've assumed the gamee is Spanish but uno is one in both Spanish and Italian. So we could go either way i guess.
I always thought it was a Q too, the Spanish word. I wonder where I got that from? That's weird. The Italian word has two t's apparently, didn't know that one either lol. French is quatre, so maybe I just assumed they all start w/Q?
Short Books I Enjoyed for Reverse:Our Souls at Night
by Kent Haruf - moving portrait of love later in life, this author is really great
The Housekeeper and the Professor by Yōko Ogawa - heartwarming and wonderful, particularly if you like baseballBecause of Winn-Dixie
by Kate DiCamillo - this is a middle grade book, but I loved it.
A Year by the Sea by Joan Anderson - memoir of a mid-life woman who actually did thisAfter Dark
by Haruki Murakami - very hard to put down, a little dark
Tuesdays with Morrie and The Five People You Meet in Heaven
by Mitch Albom

I think the pizza is with a "Q"

You definitely have a superpower for spreadsheets, Almeta, it looks great 💪🏻💜

Go ahead and snarfle! I really enjoyed the last book I read of hers so I'm looking forward to this one.

Soooooorrrrrry lol my iPad decided that it didn't want to play with my Wifi at work today, and half of Goodreads won't open on my phone - so I have been waiting all day to get home and start gophering :) I have been so intrigued by the comments that I have been seeing so far, off to see what the rules are for myself - will check back shortly :)

Almeta, I can’t edit the spreadsheet from this device. Also, if our books could be used for multiple tasks, do you want to know so you have the option to use them wherever you need?
I can read 2 of these 3:
- 0 (standalone), 1 or 5 (mostly red), 3 (author surname starts with H)
- 0 (standalone), 1 or 5 (mostly red)
- 0 (standalone), 3 (author surname starts with H), 4 or 8 (mostly blue)I also have one that would work for 7, if we need either that. ..
by Vera Caspary (author first name starts with V), also 0 (standalone)Or 2 (second in a series).

I appreciate that all options are listed, in case we want to shift them around later.
Carol wrote: "..I can read 2 of these 3:.. ..."For now I've slotted
Cemetery Road by Gar Anthony Haywood for Hand 1 Card 5 (mostly red),
AND
Dread Journey by Dorothy B. Hughes for Hand 2 Card 3 (author surname starts with H).

Welcome!
I added Lady in the Lake Renee.
We need volunteers for WILD and REVERSE in order to finish playing Hand 1.WILD - Read a book that can fit any task for one of the other cards in the SAME hand. (4, 5, 6. Reverse or Wild Draw 4)
REVERSE - One member of your team must read a book another team member has already read before UNO began.

Here are my other book options. Dragon Teeth (audio) - card 0 (standalone mostly white cover), card draw 2 (title starts with D), card 6 (narrator starts with S)
I am going to read the above book alongside my print book.
Other print book options (I plan to read one more):
Star Nomad - card 1 (1st book in series)
The Color Purple - card 0 (standalone)
The Moon is a Harsh Mistress - card 0 (standalone), card 3 (author starts with H), card Draw 2 (author starts with R)
The Martian Chronicles - card Draw 2 (author starts with R), card 0 (standalone)
Ringworld - card 1 (first in series), card 9 (author starts N)
Adulthood Rites - Card 1 (author starts with O), Card 2 (2nd book in series)
Has anyone read these books? I could then use one for the reverse card rather than the cards listed above?
Sarah wrote: "Here are my other book options. Dragon Teeth (audio) - card 0 (standalone Dragon Teeth), card draw 2 (title starts with D), card 6 (narrator starts with ...."
I placed Dragon Teeth in Hand 3 Card 0 mostly white cover.
The choice of one more I have left alone for a while. I am leaning toward these
Star Nomad - card 1 (1st book in series)
OR
Ringworld - card 1 (first in series), card 9 (author starts N)
I read The Martian Chronicles in 2011.
We can decide what is next needed a little later. Let me know when you are ready to read the "last book".

Hey Almeta, I may be misunderstanding your note above but I don't think we can use the Wild Draw Four book to satisfy both tasks. I think that book has to be ABLE to satisfy another task in the same hand, which it does, so if it makes more sense to move me to 6th in series, feel free. Not sure if I have it right bc I was pretty confused at first but I think I read it enough times to finally get it.

I believe only Draw Two allows one book for two cards.
I think I will leave it at Wild Draw Four. (artist)

by Jasper FfordeThat's all I'm comfortable with committing to until I see what that work week brings.
I will take the Reverse, if that works? I see Sarah has read the Divergent series, and I have been meaning to finish it, and no time like the present.

I'll use it for WILD for now. (Pretty versatile!)
