Here are some rules:1)you have to suggest one and second one other nomination.
2)if a book with 500+ pages gets selected it will be read in two months and anything less than 500 will be read in one month.
3)3 books with most seconds will be put up for Polls.
This is one of my favourite genres....I will hv loads of suggestions. A question: are these to be just for you or for everyone?

Splendid suggestions everyone! Seeing that only 3 will be chosen, can I just second books? Manu, is that allowed? I am not sure I want to nominate a different book at this stage, so can I second two books instead?

Uhhhhh and I second the Crimson Petal and the White. Sorry forgot the seconding bit....
so thats how the books stands so far:A Thousand Splendid Suns (7)
The Invention of Wings (4)
Lonesome Dove (4)
The Crimson Petal and the White (3)
All the Light We Cannot See (3)
Memoirs of a Geisha (2)
2-5 in my to - read list. Lonesome dove is excellent. I had started a couple of years ago, but the book got misplaced.
@Smitha: I've read the 1 while 2,4 and 5 are on my tbr. I am planning to read Lonesome Dove this year. that book have some great reviews. :)
@Manju, It surely is well written -my first and only book by Larry McMurtty. Will read an ebook if ever it wins the polls.

You've to vote for the book that you want to read and I want to read that book.:P

Sure
At HP, propaganda is allowed till one day before elections
Shall set up the polls for this one shortly. Just one small request to all those who are going to vote on this one - Do read and discuss the book that you have voted for, if it wins. And those who have voted for another book, which hasn't won, try and participate as it is a genre that you want to read. Participation is the key to the success of any reading thread. So here's to seeing some good participation in this thread. :)

It's a leisure read, right Smith? Like Dorian? No deadlines? If so...I'm in too...will read in early March...

Not sure.Though a lengthy read, its a good book. I had started reading it a couple of years ago, and misplaced the book somewhere. Remember reading a little above 100 pages, and being impressed so far.
