I just finished reading The Secrets of the Wild Wood, the sequel to The Letter for the King. These books have a classic adventure story setting with knights, quests, and kingdoms at stake. What's particularly great about them is that they were only recently translated into English, so they feel fresh and new and exciting. The books are geared towards kids but they're not dumbed down by any means. I thoroughly enjoyed them both and would recommend them to anyone who loves a good medieval adventure story!

I haven't. I only watched the trailer and it looked different enough for me to be too afraid to watch it (they kept going on about Tuiri having powers, but there's not magic or "powers" in the book). My guess is they strayed pretty far from the source material.

Yeah, I did, I wasn’t super impressed tbh; but I figured it was probably pretty different from the book. I will add that one to my list!

God of the Fairy Tale- Jim Ware. He presents a way of understanding fairytales like C.S. Lewis and Tolkien understood them. Every chapter goes over a different fairytale and in each tale he shows us the reflection of biblical truth. Love it, but I wish it was more fleshed out. Chapters are kinda short.

I just finished The Hate U Give which was very fitting for these times. I am also currently reading The Distant Mirror by Barbara Tuchman which is a history book on the middle ages.

I've had God of the Fairy Tale on my shelf for years and never read it, despite it looking interesting. I'll have to get to that one. :)

I'm currently reading "Braving the Wilderness" by Brene Brown and "Spinning Silver" by Naomi Novak, and I'm loving them both. The first is non-fiction and the second is fiction, and both of them have a LOT of depth that I have a hard time finding in either genre.

Stephanie, what is Brave the Wilderness about?
