As you arrive you hear the roaring water, as well as the splash of fish. "This. You know it as our most precious resource correct?" He said with a father like purr.
"Yeah, it's where the warriors hunt for fish, sometimes water voles."She crouched by the rived bed and stared into the water. It'd been awhile since she had been able to have a nice swim.
"Imagine, if you would, after moon upon moon of training to hunt, with that skill finally mastered...being told...to sit still...till sunhigh...all the while hearing the splashing of prey in the river." he purred. "How would you feel?" He asked looking her dead in the eyes.
Creekpaw frowned, then tore away from Spottedrabbit's gaze and closed her eyes to try and put herself in the situation. After a few more minutes of not-complete-silence, she responded.
"I suppose.... agitated, maybe annoyed and frustrated." Creekpaw sheathed and un-sheathed her claws. "Not patient." She added quickly afterwards.
"Just. Like. ME." Spottedrabbit added with a gentle smile. "I nearly failed the vigil. because I had just mastered hunting just in time for the sockeye to run through our river...unfortunately...Riverstar made our vigil that very night. Yes I was as proud as I could be to have my name...but the wait to hunt....it nearly made me fail." He admitted. "Hence Before you hunt. You must become patient." He purred.
"Why not test my patience by catching fish!" She lashed her tail. "Wouldn't that make the challenge of sitting still even worse?!"
"No. What it would be is a test of your hunting skill." He purred seeing pats Creeks motives. he leapt up on to a old stump. "Here. Here is where I sat and practiced my patience...and now...so will you. Your challenge is to sit here and not move for one hour. This means you must resist the urge to hunt, swim, or anything in between. Do not worry. I'll be joining you as a test of my own to see if I still got it." He says with a purr.
"That doesn't make me feel better." She grumbled and waded into the shallows of the river before bounding up onto the log next to her mentor.
"Before we start there's a reason why I'm doing this before hunting. With hunting I see to many apprentices and warriors rush in. This will instill in you the patience to take your time to hunt. Without that...you'll be as useful as a newborn kit when it comes to hunting." He purrs. "Now...let us...begin." He purrs the suddenly stop. it's like he's frozen in time.
Creekaw rolled her eyes and sighed, then sat down and let her tail hang off the log.She took another breath, then closed her eyes and forced every part of her to stay still and silent.
You hear the roaring of the river, the splashing of the fish, the falling of leaves and just as your mentor said it was hard to resist.
'Focus on picturing it.' She ordered herself, digging her claws into the bark. She forced herself to imagine the river rushing beneath her paws, the trees bending in surrender to the wind, the short grass creating waves on the rest of RiverClan's territory.
suddenly. You felt Spottedrabbits tail grab your. as if a silent way to say. "Do what I do." His claws were sheathed, his breaths were subtle, and his gaze was facing the river, eyes opened. You actually got a good look at his eyes and noticed he was half blind. But that didn't matter now. you copied him to the best of your abilities then a vision came to you. It was like the one before but...somehow calmer.
"To be patient....is to be like the river. Calm, and cool." Spottedrabbit said getting of the stump. "It took twenty years of my life to understand that...and is why I had to comeback her...to see if I remembered." He purred.
Creekpaw nodded and shifted her posture slightly, then closed her eyes again and listened for sounds beyond the surrounding area.In the distance she heard a dog barking, probably coming from WindClan territory. She heard something from above her, maybe in a tree. Before she could focus on it, a loud splash caused by a fish disrupted her focus.
She dug her claws deeper into the bark, then relaxed and focused on the sound again.
((I was thinking maybe a short hawk attack, just because, idk, if not it could be a cat, maybe Toadpaw and Riverstar practicing something))
(I have a Idea.)suddenly (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=33DWq... play)
The sound of a hawk broke the silence however Spottedrabbit quickly tackles it as he tries to pin it down!
Creekpaw screeched in surprise and tumbled off the log, landing with a loud splash in the river and earn the hawk's attention. The bird changed it's course, narrowly missing Spottedrabbit's attack, and swooped down closer to the river, opening it's talon's to scoop Creekpaw out of it's rushing rapids.
"NOT TODAY YA OVER SIZED PIGEON!!!" Spottedrabbit hissed as he pined it in the water trying to drown it.
"WATCH IT-" Creekpaw's yowl was cut off as she and the hawk was shoved underwater, keeping her down with it seeing as it had managed to grab her with one of it's talons.
With a swift movement of his claw Spottedrabbit slit the throat of the hawk, and cut the talons with another. He grabs his apprentice by her neck and got her out of the water. For the first time...you saw fear in spottedrabbits eyes.
Creekpaw couched up what seemed like an endless amount of water and curled up where she was, every part of her body trembling.
You hear spottedrabbit give this horrible cough. "Are...You...OK?" he said breathing heavily. It almost looked like he was going to collapse.
"Yeah... yeah...." She coughed again."You don't look good Spottedrabbit." She meowed worriedly, starting to push herself off the ground.
You noticed his scar above his left eye has not only reopened but gotten bigger. "The bastard got me pretty good...but luckily Riverstar never mentioned anything about reopening old wounds." He gave a cocky smile as he gave another horrible cough.
"Stop smiling, you need to get back to camp." Creekpaw stated firmly and stepped next to her mentor, ready to support his weight once they started moving.
"So do you." he hissed as you now notice a small scar going down your right side lip.(Not to crookedstar levels but similar in look.)
"I'm fine" She spat. "It's just a scratch, now get moving before I ask Redheart to come out here to help you." She hissed back at him.
(Kinda the point yeah.)Spottedrabbit supports you as you support him. "Welcome to the scar club lassie."
(Oh yeah Spots is Irish btw. well...Irish+Scottish.)
((Lol, ik, that makes it even funnier))"Make jokes later, when your certain you won't die." Creekpaw's ear twitched as they started to make their agonizingly slow walk back to camp.
Spottedrabbit struggles a bit but he does get closer to the camp..until his legs just can't take it anymore and fold under the weight. "I-I'm sorry creek." He says in a pained voice.
You saw him there. Motionless on the ground next to the stump where it all happened. You couldn't tell if he was dead, asleep, or what but he wasn't moving that was the only thing you were sure of.
"Spottedrabbit!" Creekpaw yowled worriedly and lumped up next to him, staring down at her mentor worriedly.
You listened. There was a heart beat at least but unfortunately...You heard a familiar sound(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=33DWq... you know what to do)
Creekpaw froze and spun around to stare up at the hawk that was circling the two cats.'Definitely not good.'
"Come on!" She muttered sharply in Spotted's ear, shaking him with her paw. "Get up you lazy furball." She hissed desperately.
(Relax your not in danger this time trust me.)Then you heard another sound.
(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q1n6L... you know what to do.)
Creekpaw spun around to stare at whatever made the noise, and to see how much longer she had to get Spottedrabbit to safety.
(K)It was a mountain lion. A older one. It appeared to be fighting the younger hawk. You begin to connect the dots to why he came here. To why he worried so much. To why he tried his hardest to teach patience. As the older lion..kills the hawk.
((Alright, now they gotta pray it won't kill them lol, but I don't get it, if it's supposed to mean something))
(The younger hawk was too eager and got killed by the more patient older lion.)The lion looks at the two of you...it just stares then...it leaves.
Creekpaw stood frozen to where she was until a few minutes had passed and she snapped out of her frozen state. She turned around and shook her mentor again with her paw.
"Spottedrabbit!?" She mewed worriedly.
Spottedrabbit begins to try and stand again and you notice this. Though he IS very shaky as he try to stand, and nearly falls a couple times.
