I know my favorite is The Age of Innocence, one of my favorite books of all time. I also rated her Ethan Frome 5-stars. I feel it's almost hard to go wrong with her, but not everyone can hit a winner every time, so maybe I just haven't come across a clunker (although The House of Mirth was not to my taste).Do you have a favorite?
I have read the same books and my current order of ranking from best to good 1. Ethan Frome
2. The Age of Innocence
3. The House of Mirth.
And this is a reminder to pick up more of Edith Wharton’s books. I really enjoy her writing style and wit.
I think Edith Wharton is great. What I most appreciate about her books is that there is a gritty backbone to them. I suppose given the time she was writing in and her personal background had me suspecting she would be writing fluffy stories about the upper crust. Now, when I pick up a Wharton I enjoy them a lot, but I often have a 'feeling in the pit of my stomach' that something bad is going to happen.I've read:
The Age of Innocence
Ethan Frome (btw - the movie was excellent too)
Summer - this is my least favorite so far
Bunner Sisters - short but intense
