After reading Blindsighted as our Jan. Book of the Month, several of us plan to continue the Grant County series. Feel free to join us. We will begin Kisscut, book 2, in Feb.

Here is a link to the series: Grant County Series

Karin Slaughter is the New York Times and #1 internationally bestselling author of fifteen thrillers, including UNSEEN, CRIMINAL, FALLEN, BROKEN, UNDONE, FRACTURED, BEYOND REACH, TRIPTYCH, FAITHLESS, COP TOWN, and the e-original short stories “Snatched” and “Busted.”

Slaughter was born in a small southern Georgia community, and now resides in Atlanta. She is widely credited with first coining the term "investigoogling" in 2006.

I still have several books to read in Jan. so it will probably be Feb. for me. However, if others want to start sooner, I'll see what I can do later in Jan. I am looking forward to Kisscut!

Jonetta (ejaygirl) | 15219 comments Mod
I can't start until next month.

message 5: by Dawn (new)

Dawn | 3250 comments I already started it...I needed a new binge anyway right? These are available on Scribd BTW

Kris (My Novelesque Life) (mynovelesquelife) | 12 comments I will start in Feb too.

That's good...I am doing several series at one-a-month & it's working out really good. So we'll plan on the next one in Feb.

I got Blindsighted from Scribd, Dawn...I agree, it's a great deal.

message 8: by Lisa (new)

Lisa Just started Blindsighted and am again hooked on another author, count me in for monthly reads.

Sandra Hoover (sandrahoover) | 11366 comments Mod
Great Lisa. We'll read Kisscut (Grant County, #2) by Karin Slaughter in Feb.

message 10: by Dawn (new)

Dawn | 3250 comments Lol Lisa, amazing how quickly that addiction can grow

message 11: by Lisa (new)

Lisa I know Dawn, but work gets in the way of reading!

message 12: by Dawn (new)

Dawn | 3250 comments Yea,Mir did for me too...until I got to retire. Now I can read a book a day. Lol

message 13: by Dawn (new)

Dawn | 3250 comments Okay I hate Lena in book three

message 14: by Sandra (new)

Sandra Hoover (sandrahoover) | 11366 comments Mod
I've come to like her & sympathize with her in book 1...I'll let you know what I think after reading book 2 forward.

message 15: by Dawn (new)

Dawn | 3250 comments Well, now I am back to feeling bad for her closer to the end of book 3. This is kind of like my love/hate relationships wth Laura Kinsale's heroines.

message 16: by Sheri (new)

Sheri Morell (smorell22) | 2165 comments Dawn, You will keep that love/hate relationship going with Lena, She is a frustrating character. I love and hate her even miss her sometimes lol.

Kris (My Novelesque Life) (mynovelesquelife) | 12 comments Totally agree, Sheri!

message 18: by Dawn (new)

Dawn | 3250 comments Great. She is definitely one of those characters you just want to knock some sense into. I actually caught myself liking her, feeling horrible for her, hating her, then feeling sorry for her again in about 5 chapters. Whew, she exhausts me

message 19: by Sheri (new)

Sheri Morell (smorell22) | 2165 comments Dawn I am right there with you. I feel the same way about Lena. and it only gets worse through out

message 20: by Sandra (new)

Sandra Hoover (sandrahoover) | 11366 comments Mod
But don't you just have to love complicated characters? All the things you're describing just make her more human to me. I'm not a fan of the one dimensional, to good to be true, always perfect characters. Characters like Lena keep me guessing & keep things interesting.

message 21: by Karen ♐ (new)

Karen ♐ (kmk1214) | 790 comments Oh, me too, Sandra. I love when I go back and forth, getting mad at them and then really liking them again.

message 22: by Sheri (new)

Sheri Morell (smorell22) | 2165 comments completely agree Sandra I feel the same way

message 23: by Dawn (new)

Dawn | 3250 comments Yes, I do like the complicated..las is evidenced by my love for Eve Dallas, and all of LUra Kinsale's books, even Faces of Evil. But this girl is stretching my limits. Maybe because I was in law enforcement for 28 years and know for certain she would never get away with any of this attitude crap, but really as I go on, she just gets to be a bigger and meaner bitch.

message 24: by Sandra (new)

Sandra Hoover (sandrahoover) | 11366 comments Mod
You know her better for sure Dawn as I've only read the one book...and even within it, my feelings were back & forth a bit on Lena. I ended up feeling a lot of sympathy for her & admiring her spirit. I'll have to see how/if that changes as I read more.

message 25: by Dawn (new)

Dawn | 3250 comments I am finding that everyone is right...she is such a mess that you can love and hate her in just minutes. But I do admire her survival spirit.

message 26: by Dawn (new)

Dawn | 3250 comments Just finished book 6, and what I assume to be the end of the series. For those who have read them..."NO!"

message 27: by Sandra (new)

Sandra Hoover (sandrahoover) | 11366 comments Mod
So I'm guessing that means you don't like the final ending?

message 28: by Sandra (new)

Sandra Hoover (sandrahoover) | 11366 comments Mod
Dawn, have you just read Grant County or have you continued on into the next series...it's my understanding the two combine after that.

I've heard the ending is controversial and, yes, that's the end of the series.

I have not checked these series out but have been told the following:

For anyone who is interested in checking out this series, please note that it's important to read them in order since the author wrote two separate series that eventually merge. Here's the order in which they should be read:

Grant County Series:

Blindsighted
Kisscut
A Faint, Cold Fear
Indelible
Faithless
Beyond Reach

Will Trent Series

Triptych
Fractured

Georgia Series/Will Trent series continues (merging of two sets of characters)

Undone
Broken
Fallen
Unseen

message 31: by Sheri (new)

Sheri Morell (smorell22) | 2165 comments I understand exactly what u are talking about Dawn. I could not believe how they ended the series. you will want to start the will Trent series. they cross over

I read Triptych before I read Blindsighted and don't recommend doing that. Slightly spoilerish.

It matches the series listing here on GR.

message 35: by Dawn (new)

Dawn | 3250 comments Sandra...nope. And since you are five months from finishing that is all I will say. I actually read the last few pages six times, certain I read it wrong. Not sure I am willing to get invested in any more of her characters.

message 36: by Sheri (new)

Sheri Morell (smorell22) | 2165 comments dawn you don't want to stop now. I am telling you, you won't be disappointed going on to the next series.

Kris (My Novelesque Life) (mynovelesquelife) | 12 comments I totally second Sheri! I was a bit apprehensive at first but I swear it only gets better

message 38: by Sandra (new)

Sandra Hoover (sandrahoover) | 11366 comments Mod
I really hate the thought of reading 6 books only to get disappointed...I don't like when authors do that. But I know these characters merge with the Will Trent characters at some point so I'll just hope for better endings then, I guess. Unless something changes my mind, I'm in it for the long haul.

message 39: by Sheri (new)

Sheri Morell (smorell22) | 2165 comments you won't be disappointed Sandra

message 40: by Sandra (new)

Sandra Hoover (sandrahoover) | 11366 comments Mod
Thanks...I hope not. It's a lot of books to read only to be disappointed with the series. You've read them all, right Sheri?

message 41: by Sheri (new)

Sheri Morell (smorell22) | 2165 comments yes I have and waiting for the New one to come out in 2016. I hate waiting

message 42: by Sandra (new)

Sandra Hoover (sandrahoover) | 11366 comments Mod
Oh I know...it's always hard when you're caught up in a series & waiting a long time for the next book. I have a long way to go in this series to get there! lol Although, I will count it as 2 series - Grant County & Will Trent. I do intend to read them all though.

message 43: by Dawn (new)

Dawn | 3250 comments Damn. My compulsive need to find out the rest of the story after the end of Grant County made me want to read the Will Trent series, kind of. I skipped the first two books just to get to Sara and now I am hooked on Will and Faith. Ugh.

message 44: by Dawn (new)

Dawn | 3250 comments Okay I really must say...I dislike Lena more and more with every book I read

message 45: by Sheri (new)

Sheri Morell (smorell22) | 2165 comments I was the same way Dawn. I love Will and Faith. make sure at some point you read the first two they are really good to. Lena is a big frustration to me. there are times I love her and hate her. Enjoy the rest they only get better. Love me some will

message 46: by Sandra (new)

Sandra Hoover (sandrahoover) | 11366 comments Mod
I'll be continuing the series straight through...I don't have it in me to skip books! lol Up in Feb. is Kisscut (Grant County, #2) by Karin Slaughter

message 47: by Dawn (new)

Dawn | 3250 comments Oh, I will have to go back for the first two. Slaughter is certainly a master of cliffhangers

message 48: by Jonetta (new)

Jonetta (ejaygirl) | 15219 comments Mod
Dawn, Triptych was incredible. Stop. Go back and read it now. And, there's Will Trent backstory that's important.

message 49: by Dawn (new)

Dawn | 3250 comments Sigh. I am in the middle of Broken. I should stop right now, or after this book?

message 50: by Jonetta (new)

Jonetta (ejaygirl) | 15219 comments Mod
After that book.
