Hey me too! I'm an Arthur Miller fan! I highly recommend his modern translation of An Enemy of the People: An Adaptation of the Play by Henrik Ibsen for anyone looking for a play to read.

Fay Roberts Started reading The Crucible last night - read for an hour, the play still hasn't started yet, but I can tell you all about the trials to find communists in 1950's America. Gotta love the study versions!

I honestly really do love study versions of plays. You get to learn so much! Mmmm, learning... :D

Fay Roberts @lydia and that's why you're a member of a group with the word geek in the title lol! Just finished (slow day at the office....) and it was good. Anyone got recommendations of novels based on this period?

message 12: by Jodez (new)

Jodez (jodez4) | 66 comments Hamlet if only because I picked it up for $2 from my local bookstore (before it closed :( ).

message 13: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer Well, it might be a bit of a cheat option but GoodReads classes it as a play so 'nerr I'm using it' :-p

The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy BBC radio play by Douglas Adams.

I chose it for the audiobook option on BookRiot but it fits this too.

I'd definitely recommend it to people, it's really funny. And you get to hear how us people from the UK are supposed to talk (my accent is nothing like theirs)

Elizabeth (persephone17) I read Medea for this, because we had to read it for my ancient world class. I really enjoyed it...even if the story was a bit gruesome at the end! Raises a bunch of questions about gender roles and alienation in society, not only in Ancient Greece but today.

message 15: by Pastels Passions (new)

Pastels Passions (pastelspassions) Hold Me Closer: The Tiny Cooper Story was the play I've ended up reading for this one

message 16: by Jemma (new)

Jemma (jemmaj) | 53 comments I am currently working my way through Macbeth - it is almost finished!
