I read this last summer.
It's really good and yes it is a long book but it reads so fast.
Hope everyone likes it as much as I did.

Greg | 383 comments Read this one last year as well and enjoyed it. It is longer and definitely bizarre but still a fun read.

Lena | 2681 comments I’ve also read this über bizarre story and was impressed, there was a touch of the Donnie Darko. I will enjoy reading the comments.

Nancy (paper_addict) | 812 comments I just started it! I’ve had this book for a while now.

Alan | 7723 comments Mod
Great book. It takes awhile to get going, but patience with it will pay off in droves.

Melanie | 1656 comments Yay! I nom'd this so stoked it won. Looking forward to reading it together.

Char | 17481 comments I've had this book for years. Still haven't read it. *sigh*
I'm hoping to join in here.

Awesome! I'll be starting my vacation on Friday, so I'm hoping to finish off The Bone Mother and then The Ballad of Black Tom and then I'm here!

Melanie | 1656 comments 19 pages in, only 643 pages to go. It's going to fill most of the month me thinks.

message 17: by Char (new) - rated it 5 stars

Char | 17481 comments Ooohhhh, it's a big one!

Ashley Cael | 24 comments Listening to the audiobook, I started it today. I'm currently on chapter 5, a) hoooooooooly cow it's long(22 hours!!) but b) I really love it so far!!

Melanie | 1656 comments This is my 2nd RJB book and I forgot what a bloody amazing writer he is. I get barely a few lines in and totally forget I'm reading.

Nancy (paper_addict) | 812 comments I’m at 65%. I am having a hard time putting this down! It’s really good.

message 21: by Opal (new) - rated it 5 stars

Opal (thebookishowl) | 8 comments I'm only at 16%, but I am really liking it so far. In particular, I loved the introduction of Mr. First. He's so creepy and intriguing. I really want to know what he looks like...

Melanie | 1656 comments I'm up to chapter 17 and so far this feels like a cross between (view spoiler). Fortunately I love both of those so enjoying it, and for once not having trouble keeping up with so many characters.

David (davscomur) | 134 comments Hi everyone—I’m joining late!

Char | 17481 comments I’m just starting too. Hi!

David (davscomur) | 134 comments Thanks for the heads-up about this, Char!

Nancy (paper_addict) | 812 comments I just finished. I liked this one. It really kept my interest.

David (davscomur) | 134 comments I’m 100 pages in and am very upset with myself that I haven’t read this before. So good!

I wondered if you might join this one David, it seems like your taste, quiet and a creeping sense of dread.

That’s me all right!

I read the 1st page in the preview on Amazon before i got my ebook and I can't wait to dive in, hopefully today I make some progress, trying to juggle a few buddy reads at a time :)

WendyB | 5079 comments Mod
I'm glad everyone seems to be liking this book. I thought it was a great read and for all it's a doorstopper of a book, it reads very fast. Has an X-Files and Wayward Pines vibe to it.

Kasia (kasia_s) | 4568 comments Mod
^I absolutely adore the Wayward Pines books, quite a compliment!

Ashley Cael | 24 comments About 30% in, really enjoying the deviating stories, feels very cinematic. I normally listen to audio at 2x speed but I had to cut this one down to 1.5 because so much happens quickly you can miss stuff. 16 more hours of listening to go, I should finish it this week. I agree on the X-Files vibes, it definitely feels like Mulder could be just around the corner.

I was thinking of Wayward Pines while reading this!

Muditha Warnasuriya | 19 comments Hello. I just started reading a few days ago. I will be joining when I am done.

Nancy (paper_addict) | 812 comments Char wrote: "I’m about 10 percent in and I’m enjoying it. I have no idea what’s going on but I’m going to keep going and found out."

That was one of the aspects I liked, not knowing what was going on and getting little tidbits along the way.

Melanie | 1656 comments Char wrote: "I’m about 10 percent in and I’m enjoying it. I have no idea what’s going on but I’m going to keep going and found out."

Ha! I'm almost 50% of the way on and still no idea what's going on! I'm starting to have a few sneaking suspicions though.

Char | 17481 comments I’ve been slacking on my reading because I’m on vaca this week.

Kasia (kasia_s) | 4568 comments Mod
^ yeah sorry me too in a way

David (davscomur) | 134 comments Just hit 35%. This book is fantastic. I’m going a little slowly because yesterday I got to go to...

Wait for it....

TWO BOOK SHOPS.

It was the most fun I’ve had for awhile.

David, I am officially jealous.. sounds like a blast :)

Nancy (paper_addict) | 812 comments I haven’t been to the book store since maybe February or even January. Going to go on Friday though! Whoop whoop!

Bookshops and buying more books are the only appropriate excuse for not reading current books. Hope you got some good ones.

Char | 17481 comments I’ve been to a local used book store twice since they’ve reopened. I was able to scoop up almost the entire Hap and Leonard series by Joe Lansdale. I was a happy girl. 🙂

That's very exciting David! Did you find anything good?

Melanie | 1656 comments Chapter 29, just when I'm thinking, 'Hmm, this might be more a sci-fi / fantasy / magical realism mishmash...' I'm reminded that NOPE, this is cosmic horror Mel, and don't you forget it.

Oh good! I'm on chapter 23 and honestly getting a bit annoyed by Mona, she's being very dense. Ready for some scary stuff to go down.

I found some fantastic things! I’m one of those people who collects Signet editions from the 60s and I found a lot of those, which was very unusual! I also found a hardcover copy of Alone With the Horrors by Ramsey Campbell and a hardback of Danse Macabre by King, so it was a good day!
