Nadine Bookaholic (nadinesobsessedwithbooks) | 112 comments Hi I was wondering if you were going to do this again or not, it’s been such a crazy year. Hope everyone is doing well. I’m definitely in!!!

It was so nutty and then all of a sudden I thought "oh crap! It's June!!!" lol The timeline is a little behind, but oh well. I'm just glad some of us still want to do it!

~ Lei ~ Reading Is An Adventure ~ (leilanilives2read) | 53 comments I'm in! My work hours have been reduced since April and the silver lining is MOAR READING TIME!

Hi everybody!

So nice to see CiJ coming back this year, we definitely need it!

Funny thing, tho, with everyone home (hubby and 4 kids) I have no time to read. I cut my usual 220+ books a year to 150. Hopefully it will pick up soon :)

Anyway, glad to see you all! :)

Nadine Bookaholic (nadinesobsessedwithbooks) | 112 comments I was sick with COVID-19 for about 6 weeks, while stuck in bed I read a LOT but it has since calmed down but I’m still 20+ books ahead of my projected goal for the year.

Sorry to hear that, I know someone who had it and showed no symptoms what so ever... And the symptoms of the virus reflect a lot of other health conditions too so there are people who are diagnosed with it by the test kits, but when the blood samples came back they were diagnosed with Chrohn's disease. But you took the best option of staying in bed and reading, others try and deny the symptoms and carry on everyday housework... Personally, I rather read than do house work

I had no choice I was really to sick to do anything other than read and sleep. I'm a BC survivor and have asthma as well as some other health issues so I wasn't completely surprised that I got sick even though I was very cautious when doing anything.

I'm with you I'd rather read than do housework too..LOL

So sorry to hear about you being sick, Nadine. But I am really happy you are OK now! *hugs* :D

My aunt's family all got it: 4 adults and 2 toddlers. None of them was ever sick, just lost the sense of smell. That was back in early May, too.

Glad to see so many people interested and coming to sign up! :-)

Remember- if you haven't done it yet, go to Elfster to officially register and add your name. That is where the picks will come from.

Nadine, I'm so glad you are feeling better! <3

Lisa ~ Books Are My Drugs ~ (lisa44870) | 43 comments I thought I was going to be too late. I've had 4 surgeries since May and still have a feeding tube in my stomach until most likely the end of July. This year has been crappy for reading too.

@ Nadine: sorry to hear you were sick with Covid but I'm glad you're feeling better now.

Nadine Bookaholic (nadinesobsessedwithbooks) | 112 comments Thanks everyone.

Lisa I hope you're doing better really soon <3

I thought I would have more time to read during these past months, but with all the kids home 24/7, it's just not possible. I had to cut my yearly challenge from 200+ books to 150, but even that, I am afraid, will have to be cut down to 100 :(

Me, too! I am 46 books behind already, and normally I am right on track. I'm hoping I can get to 200 at least. My goal was 275, but I know that isn't happening.

Yesterday? As in you got a new pick?
There was an issue with Elfster on Monday, but it got all straightened out so it should be set. If you have any issues, PM me and we'll see what we can figure out.

message 30: by Midniteillusion (new)

Midniteillusion | 51 comments I thought I was the only one behind this year. I struggled last year but only by like 3-4 books, this year I’m constantly 6-7 books behind. My goal is also much lower, at only 80 books.

I just managed to catch up a little bit. I am only (ugh, only!) 8 books behind. Working hard to read more. Cutting down on my sleep X)

Lisa ~ Books Are My Drugs ~ (lisa44870) | 43 comments Ugh. So it looks like I'll probably need to have my throat dilated again. Had a tylenol get stuck Sunday and then a tramadol stuck today. I was hoping that my visit next week would be it. :(

Thanks. Unfortunately, I thought I was ok so gave away all my children's tylenol. :( This whole process has been a cluster from the beginning!

Is this something that happens? Late last year, I was weeding out friends that haven't been on GR for more than a year and then I noticed months later, just recently, my friend count had gone down by a good thirty. I couldn't think of what I'd done to run off that many friends!

@Lei

It's actually a GR thing :( They unfriend people on the regular basis. Goes years back.

At first I thought it was me, too, but then I started taking screenshots of my friends and friend-count. I am not sure why GR does that. A bug? 🤷🏻‍♂️
