It has been a while since I read the first book so I forgot some of the characters. Took a while to grasp who everyone was! Really good plot as always, McManus hasn't disappointed me! Don't want to say too much as I have finished the book.

Luckily I had a copy of the first one so I read it again. 😅
I read the first book and this sequel back to back and I have to say, to me the sequel kept me hooked more so than the first book. However, I may be part of the minority for this one, but I felt this sequel wasn’t necessary. I felt a little bit like the plot and ultimately the climax had me feeling like it was stretched. I kind of found myself saying “yea right” as to who was behind everything. I personally liked the characters in this book more so than the first. I did find myself missing that Bronwyn and Nate flirtation though lol. Thoughts? Anyone else agree?
I also read them back to back, and I agree that this sequel wasn't really necessary. (I definitely didn't enjoy it as much as the first.) I thought it did a good job with family relationships, and I actually really did like that very last twist. But most the secrets this time around (especially in the beginning) didn't feel as big a deal. And the romance just paled in comparison with Nate and Bronwyn...
I just finished this today and was not at all disappointed. I didn't reread the first book before starting this one, and I'm not sure if that would have helped or hurt my experience. Regardless, I realized after finishing it that I would have liked to have the feelings of the first one more fresh in mind in order to do a better comparison. Nonetheless, this was an enjoyable read! That last chapter is everything. McManus provided an interesting plot, a shift in character focus (while maintaining all the favorites) and certainly delivered an interesting plot twist. A previous poster mentioned the possibility of McManus setting us up for #3, I'd have to agree. There is also no arguments here that the sequel was not necessary, though I'm glad there was one.
I listened to this on audio when it came out, and honestly, and I don't have much memory of it. I remember thinking it was fine, not as good as the first, and completely unnecessary to publish. Maybe it just seemed like too much of a cash grab, publishing an underwhelming sequel after announcing a tv show is in the works? Anyway, I remember the characters from the first book pretty well, which is unusual for me. I think because they filled those intentionally cliche Breakfast Club roles. But I couldn't tell you who any of the characters from this book actually are 😏
It seems like most people preferred Nate/Bronwyn to Maeve/LuisAny reasons???
Yes... i agree that Nate and Bronwyn sass was the main part of the first book!!

Personally, I wasn't terribly big on Luis's character. I think maybe because I felt he continued to stay as such a side character. I can't say I didn't dislike him, but I also really didn't pay much attention to him. That being said, I thought the two main relationships that were focused on (Maeve/Luis and Knox/Phoebe) were not all that great. I felt more like they were just conveniently included and not necessary built properly.
Anyone else feel the same?
For once (hah), I found myself focusing more on the plot than on character relationships. I'd love for some guided discussion questions as everyone wraps up their reading. Particularly a discussion on that last chapter because that really made the book, in my opinion.
Wrapping up some of my current thoughts, I was definitely more into the character relations throughout the first book. An end game type of relationship indeed.
I think that the 1st book was more addictive and page turning compared to the 2nd.Plus, I was a sucker for the squad in the 1st book.even the relationships, nate and brownyn or cooper and Kris were more wholesome and nicely written.
I agree with the squad thing i lOved the first gang butttt i think the second books plot was better and that twist at the end OMGGGG

Yes, this book did focus on the plot more than the character relationships and I think it was a fresh POV because you don't spend so much time shipping them and you think about the plot more??
I just finished this book, super quick read but I don’t remember Phoebe from the first book? Maybe she wasn’t in it. I thought it was pretty good but the first book really set the precedent. I definitely did not predict “who did what” this go round. Also the 2nd (?) dare, I out loud said oh my god and my husband was so confused at my face and outburst 😂

So I finished this book, and I've read it about 3 times now(?). It's really good! I'd definitely recommend this book. Quite sure I wrote a review on it...
