Awesome! Yes, I would love to reread this and discuss. Especially because it has probably been over 10 years since I read this book ( I think I read it when it came out), so I'm curious if my perception of the book has changed since then.
Hold came in! I will be starting on this after the one I am currently listening to for this group (The Age of Innocence). So it will be sometime this week.
I'm waiting for my copy to come in. I thought i had a copy of the book somewhere, but I can't find it. It's in transit, though, so it should hopefully be a short wait! I have the abridged version read by Amy Tan, but I'm requesting the unabridged version.

Well, shoot! I am glad you pointed that out. Looks like the copy I got is abridged. 🙁🙁🙁 And, it also looks like I don't have easy access to an unabridged copy. So, now I have no idea when I will get to this one!

But thankfully, my library seems to have the playaway of the unabridged version, or at least the details say it's 8+ hours long, which is about right for unabridged. My abridged version is about half that length, I believe.

The copy that just came in for me is about three and a half hours long. I will begin the search for the full version!

Based on the prices I am seeing and availability and the fact that getting to the library right now is not a normal endeavor I am toying with the idea of doing the audible free trial to get this one.

Yeah, it's hard to find the unabridged one for some reason! I have no idea why. I am on the every other month audible plan. It still lets me have access to the audible originals every month and it's not as much (14.98 every other month). It also lets me take advantage of the deal of the day for books I'm interested in that I can't get any other way. I have a few of Brandon Sanderson's books this way, lol.
Okay - I have decided to use my audible free trial for this. Also, I have been having trouble finding the third book in The Expanse series on audio - my library has all the rest on audio so I am not sure why they don't have that one.
I am 50% done with Shakespeare for Squirrels. Once I am done, I will start this.

Okay, I just picked up my copy of Joy Luck Club (Playaway). I just started Doomsday Book today, but I may start JLC tomorrow or Sunday depending my mood. What the heck is Shakespeare for Squirrels?!

I started Joy Luck Club today on my lunch break while I was mowing. Not sure what to expect, but interesting so far!
Pretty funny author - this is the third book in his Shakespeare retelling series. I finished today so review to come soon!

LOL, Shakespeare retellings! I may have to check that out, ha! I'll have to see if my library has any of his books!

Start with Fool
Start with Fool
I am about half way through. I can say like it okay, but I don't necessarily love it. Some parts are better than others. However, each part has been interesting in its own way.
This is probably an issue for many, but for me, the Chinese names are sometimes difficult to follow. Perhaps someone from China reading a book with a lot of American names feels the same!

I just started and although I'm not Chinese, I am Taiwanese so I am not having trouble keeping track of all the Chinese names. So far, I don't remember any of the book, but it's interesting (I'm about 15% of the way through). I just finished Jing-Mei Woo's first chapter. I'm going to save An-Mei Hsu for tomorrow!

Okay, I found all three of the Shakespeare ones and will start with Fool at some point! I have a ton of ARCs suddenly that I have to read though, lol.

It's a skill . . . and a curse!

Amen! In the time I've started this book (I'm 30% through) I've finished Searching for Dragons and I'm about finished with The Secret of Nightingale Wood, ha!
Sorry I have not discussed more in this buddy read. My family is doing a week camping trip so a lot of time is spent off devices.
I finished this one on the drive to the campground. I wish I had enjoyed it more. Here is my review:
