Why does Jude want so badly to belong in the Courts of Faerie? She’s always surrounded by fey that either delight in torturing her or those that could care less if she’s alive or dead, yet she is desperate to fit into their world.

At this point in Jude's life faerie is the world she k ows best and feels comfortable in. she has very few memories of the mortal realm. Jude is between a rock and a hard place: stuck between the place she belongs, but doesn't feel a part of and the place that she knows, but doesn't necessarily belong. I think her need to fit into her reality overrides the fear or concern she should feel about how the fey treat or view her.
