I am reading Gemina right now and LOVING IT!
I loved hearing about 2 of my favorite simmers getting together during the quarantine. I hope things work out for them!
My uncle lost his job due to COVID but then got an amazing, even better job (better pay, free (fancy!) housing and his office has an amazing view that I envy. So good things do happen!
My hubby and I have been playing a couch co-op called A Way Out. Good story to the game! Now we just need to find and get the other achievements we missed in our first run-through.

Ooooh. I'm glad you love it. It's great when you find that book that is a gem.Who? Where did you hear about this? O.o
OMG! That's amazing! I'm happy for him.
It's nice you have a game you can play together. ^_^
My update is that I have been melting. We still don't have an A/C so our house is constantly above 80. I prefer a temp of 68 or 72 so it's HOT. The next two weeks are going to be brutal. It was 37 today with the humidex or whatever and it's not going to get much colder anytime soon. Ruby is really suffering in the heat and it's like the one thing I can't really do much about. I just do my best to keep her cool. She is not sleeping well because of it and also the fireworks the past two nights did not help.I'm also looking at houses. I would like to move out but nothing is working out. It's at the very beginning stages so mostly I just browse realtor sites.

James Turner and Deli (Deligracy) got together officially! The Australian "rivals" are now a team. :)

Hot here too! I just ordered a mini portable air conditioner. Fingers crossed it is good. Should arrive early next week. I am lucky my dogs do good with fireworks but they have been ridiculous lately and lighting off the big pro-mortars! A piece landed in my neighbors yard and started a fire that almost reached us. We came home that night to firefighters in our driveway! Scary!!
Are you looking to move on your own? Home shopping can be fun or just a complete pain.

I'm scared of that happening but thankfully it never has. I'm glad your yard was safe!
I would like too but financially and skill based it's not likely. Luckily my mom and brother also want to move but that also makes it more complicated.

I like to watch people when a new game comes out. Kind of like reading reviews of ARCs. :)

Yes! I also like watching them do various challenges. Especially gameplay or build challenges.

Ahh, so its a whole family move... Those are trickier since everyon has their own style, opinions and wants in a home.
Hopefully the three of you mostly agree on preferences.

Exactly! Like the small living thing? Small space? I can't remember the name.

Jamie wrote: "Oh dear..."Yup. Ideally we would all live by ourselves but my mom is the only one who is definitely able to do that. 🤷🏻♀️
Heeeeeeeey, I'm so sorry I went MIA. A couple of huge things were happening at work (like three, all at once) and now that they're finally done with, I've been scrambling to catch up on all the backlog of work I'd been putting off. I finally got my work inbox down to 14 emails instead of 300+, so I'm finally able to surface and start to be a person again.I'm trying to catch up on the huge backlog of comics I have been ignoring, teach myself to make a quilt entirely by hand (yikes) and spend time with the five cats. My eldest boy died in early June, so that was rough, but we have 4 no-longer-kittens and their Momma still so it's a full house.
Now if only I could read some actual books....

Welcome back!
Welcome back!
So we are still hunting for a house. In this marked it will take 10 years! 😡😡😡I also decided to buy an ipad because
A) My comp is starting to fail. I'll probably still get a year out of it but I might get more if I can give it a break every once in a while.
B) My ipod won't let me update anymore and I want to use the new Netgalley shelf
C) I can now watch tv on something bigger than my ipod and not have to move my whole laptop every time
D) To give me something else to 'obsess' over besides house hunting.

Nice! I hope you like your new ipad.
YAY for larger watching screens.
House hunting can be a pain. And the market is doing strange things this year.
I need to check out the new Netgalley shelf. I saw the notification but not sure how it works or what it does yet.

It's very strange. Houses are being snapped up like we are all going to die tomorrow. It's really weird.Apparently it's very buggy but people seem to like it for the most part. Lots of kinks to work out but it's only a day old.
Netgalley App:
I can't use it on my kindle (which sucks because the new docs setup on kindle is bad too.. can't search to download and now I have to send via PC every book....
I rarely read on my phone. Too tiny. But audiobooks might be cool depending on narrator. I want more full cast books! Those I love but I don't know of many.

I didn't even realize it was a possibility to use on your kindle. O.o With the update? I think some others were complaining about that in the Netgalley group.
I agree. I never read on my phone unless I'm desperate. That's why I have so many devices. lol.

I've been okay. Luckily Ive been able to pay my bills but the federal support is ending and the state of California shut down again! I'm getting reading done and have participated in some fun virtural events.

I am worried with that ending. Especially with things going back into shutdown. Ugh. This back and forth is exhausting on every level!
This is definitely the year for virtual events! I know you are doing COYER. I have been too busy to keep up with that and the readathons and posting reviews. Any other fun events?

You guys are going back into shutdown? O.o We just entered phase three here. I think it's very premature but I have no control over that. I'm acting as if it's phase 1.5 still.
Yeah things are working backwards again. Things are bad here now. We opened up fast to a mix of phase 2-3. People cannot keep even personal space let alone 6 ft, everyone treated retail and restaurants like the week before Christmas with insane shopping. Parties left and right, soccer leagues started up, protests, beach gatherings, etc and our state went bad fast. :(
OMG. O.o I knew the states in general wasn't doing well but I had no idea California was in that dire of a state.
I know that a lot of people in Canada particularly the 'younger' generation are being stupid. Cases are rising in people under 40.
Yeah those are the big jumps in age in my county too. It’s gotten to my coworkers. I hate going in right now...
I just don't understand the for lack of a better word. 'Stupidity'. Like people are acting like they have cabin fever and are in denial about the pandemic.
Yeah I’ve only been going out to the park or essentials like good, shampoo, pet supplies, etc. the few other things I’ve ordered. No malls, no bbqs with friends, nothing. I wish people would be considerate and suck it up so we can get through this first wave.
Overall I've been pleased 28h our Governor but the pressure to open is strong. Bars gyms nail places etc are back to being closed until further notice :/ I'm doing press for SDCC online next weekend there is this great community that does a virtual camp for adults online : IGGPP and I'm a counselor this year! We do crafts and blanket forts!

I wish he had gone a bit slower reopening, set more guidelines. Like, I love how Santa Clara set up limited # of people in a place of business, etc. But I'd rather be safe than rush it (like Florida...).
That is awesome that you have some fun activities going on! Not sure what IGGPP is though.
I have the dewey's reverse readathon to *hopefully* look forward to in August but I think that is about it on my calendar. We've been spending our free time fixing up our yard on days when it isn't too hot (which is rare sadly). It is in such bad shape. I green thumb I am not.

With a rough year so far, has anything good happened to anyone? What great book did you read in June? What are you looking forward to reading or doing in July?
Anything goes on this thread!
