Good luck with the challenge. :-)I think it's a good idea to plan a few weeks at a time so you can be flexible about what you feel like reading. :-)
I Just added the book You Wouldn't Be Dead For Quids by Robert G. Barrett for "a book your mum or dad loves".
I just wanted to share the story behind it. When I was a kid, I remember my Dad always wearing a t-shirt that had the cover of that book on it. One time we went on a camping trip and he wore the shirt for a week straight without washing it or having a shower (my poor mum). After this trip my Mum and her friends had the shirt framed (still unwashed) with other mementos from the trip. Ever since he had it hanging up at his house, wherever he lived.
In January 2012 he was getting remarried and our close family friends contacted Robert G. Barrett after finding out he lived in the same town as my dad (Terrigal, NSW). They shared his story of the t-shirt with him and he agreed to make a surprise appearance during the speeches. Both Barrett and my dad were both suffering from at the cancer at the time which made this even more special.
However, on the day he was too sick to come, but he gave our friends some signed shirts (same as the one he had framed) to give to Dad at the wedding. I just found it beautiful that he was going to come to a stangers wedding.
This is why I decided to read this book for this week. My Dad passed away in 2013, about 8 months after Barrett. I'm excited to read the book of someone who gave my Dad something when he was going through a horrible illness.
