First one in this category:Jackaby by William Ritter
It won the YALSA Best Fiction for Young Adults Top Ten for 2015.
Finished:A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness
Winner of YALSA Best Fiction for Young Adults Top Ten for 2012
I just read my first one in this category. When Everything Feels Like the Movies by Raziel Reid. It won the Governor General's Literay Award. It was also runner-up for the Canada Reads competition. A tough subject and very graphic but a good read.
Rebecca wrote: "And I Lived on Butterfly Hill, which won something called the Pura Belpre Award."Hi Rebecca, I just noticed that you listed this one under historical fiction and also under Prize Winners. Since you can only apply one category per book, do you want to keep this here or under Historical?
Oh, geez. I did it again! Leave it where it was. If I kept up with these postings when I first read each book, I wouldn't do this. But I miss some, then go back and try to fix it. Or mess it up, as seems to be the case. Do all my books fit multiple categories?? :D

Okay, I removed it from the Prize Winners category and kept in under Historicals which closes out that category for you, good job!
Melki wrote: "I finished (and LOVED!) The Guards winner of the 2004 Shamus Award for Best Novel."Ken Bruen is one of my very favorite authors. I can read his books in a single sitting!
Stephanie wrote: "Ken Bruen is one of my very favorite authors. I can read his books in a single sitting!"I'll be reading a lot more of his stuff in the near future.
Managed to down three for this with:Elizabeth Is Missing by Elizabeth Is Missing - winner of the Costa Book Award for a First Novel 2014
Doctor Sleep by Stephen King - winner of the Bram Stoker Award for Superior Achievement in a Novel 2014
Apocalypse Cow by Michael Logan - winner of the Terry Pratchett Prize 2011
My second read for this category is: Black Dog of Fate: An American Son Uncovers His Armenian Past by Peter Balakian 1998 winner of the PEN/Albrand Prize for best memoir.
Heart-broken after reading:Beasts of No Nation by Uzodinma Iweala
It won several prizes, one of which was the John Llewellyn Rhys Prize for 2005.
This one was really tough to read...
Copper Sun by Sharon M. Draper. It won the Coretta Scott King award in 2007.And, I will note, in keeping with my usual pattern, could also have been in Color in the Title, not to mention Historical (except I've finished that).
And I've got my final one for this with The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood, winner of the Arthur C. Clarke Award for Best Novel (1987) and the Los Angeles Times Book Prize for Fiction (1986)
I just finished the 1997 Pulitzer Prize winner - Martin Dressler: The Tale of an American Dreamer. It was mostly wonderful.

I found it dragged a bit in spots but overall I liked it.
