I hope everyone has a great 4rth of July! Is anyone doing anything special tonight? I've been hearing fireworks all day, but I don't think we have an official fireworks celebration here in my little town.

I live in the country and there are “private” fireworks going off all around us. The two closest cities did have their community fireworks, but held them in locations that allowed for people to watch from their cars or while otherwise maintaining social distancing.

We watched a movie and I’ve been reading since then. Boring but safe.

Me, too. Seemed like half the county was shooting them off, many strings of very loud booms without anything to show for it, too. My English Pointer, a bird dog, is scared of them, so she had to cuddle up to me in bed until after midnight. Needless to say, it wasn't a great night's sleep.

It was pretty tame around here (Boston area). I heard a few muted fireworks last night and my neighbors across the street had some sparklers, but all of the official events were cancelled. We had a low-key day - we rented kayaks in the morning and had a nice paddle along the Charles River (at one point my son got hot and begged to jump into the water, so we pulled over so he could have a quick swim), and I'd bought some art supplies for the kids to do a few themed art projects.

That sounds like a bold adventure! :)
