This isn't a discussion, but one of the blog articles. It's the newest one on singleness being a gift. (Link: http://therebelution.com/blog/2015/01... ) This topic has come up a lot in my life recently, mostly because I'm still in high school and don't need, nor do I have time for, a boyfriend, but that doesn't stop me from wanting one! I found this article interesting, because it talks about how when you get married, although it's wonderful, you are more tied down. It pointed out a few things about how great singleness is that had never crossed my mind. How do you guys feel about singleness, whether permanent or temporary?
I personally don't want to stay single, as I'm sure most of us don't. I agree that when you get married you would be more tied down, and that there is more freedom in being single, but I would never want to stay that way. Marriage is also a gift and I should be contented and thankful with whatever I have, with singleness or marriage. I'm still young and have never had a boyfriend, I also don't deal with the same peer pressure as some of you because I'm homeschooled. God knows what is best for me, I don't need to worry about my future, because God holds it in His hands. Whatever He gives me I will be thankful for, and I'm sure you all agree with me on that.
I hope to not be single for my whole life, I just found it interesting to see an article on the perks of being single.
Yeah, that is interesting. I've never seen an article on the benefits of singleness, just on being at peace for what God has in store for your future.
Here's another we can discuss: http://therebelution.com/blog/2015/01...I'm curious to see your thoughts on it...
This is a touchy subject. I personally believe listening to some secular music is not bad or sinful, it's only when it takes God's place in your life and basically becomes an idol. I also think we shouldn't be listening to any music that glorifies sin. I would say it's definitely not the best thing you could be listening to, and if it causes you to sin you should refrain from listening to any secular music that doesn't glorify God.
I believe, along with what you two have said, that you need to listen in moderation. As long as you're listening to Christian music more often then secular music, it's relatively okay. Even when I listen to secular stuff, I generally try to keep it clean.
http://therebelution.com/blog/2015/01... I really liked this article. If you have any comments please share!
I liked the article too. I can be hard to remember to give thanks in everything and I think a lot of Christians don't realize the significance of that verse. This part of the article really stood out to me: "But why would anyone with a God like ours get irritated? God knows what is best for us, and sometimes, we need the storms of life to water down our deserts of dry mirth."
I hadn't read it before, no. I just read it though and I found it very powerful!! I can really relate to what they're saying about "Christians", the people who say they believe, but don't act like it outside the church. This is why I feel it's so important that my faith is not just a religion, but a relationship with the Lord!!!
I loved that article. It was one of the best I'd read in a while. So many people claim to be Christians, but don't live like it.
Well said Astrid! Though I really want to get married someday, I totally agree with you on being happy if single too!! Jesus is more than enough for me, He's the first love of my life!! :)
Here's an interesting article I found on the Rebelution website. What do you all think?http://therebelution.com/blog/2015/09...
