Thoughts on You Should See Me in a Crown?

Cathy | 27 comments This is the story of a young woman who needs money to go to the college of her dreams, doesn't get the scholarship she was counting on, and has one option left: the big money that accompanies being crowned Prom Queen in her midwestern town. The challenge: every girl who has worn the crown has been blonde, already popular, and pretty definitely straight. Liz, on the other hand, is black and queer, and has spent her high school career under the radar. It's a sweet and often funny Cinderella story, perfect for Teens' Top 10 or the Reluctant Reader list, but the Printz . . . ?

Amy | 8 comments Just finished this book. I don't think it will be a Printz contender, but it is an excellent, fun read none the less. I hope it ends up on some lists (Reluctant reader, any LGBTQ+ list, Teen choice) so that people will continue to look for it.

To me, it started out rough. I wasn't grabbed by the first few chapters, and I almost put it down. I am so glad I didn't. It ended up being a very delightful read, and I enjoyed it a lot.

Heather | 50 comments I enjoyed it, tremendous fun with a decent amount of depth, but I don't see this for the Printz list either.
