Redwall


Well, I was going to go with Watership Down, and I do still plan to read that one soon, but Redwall (actually the first six books of the series) are sitting on my bookcase at home and I've been looking for a chance to fit them in to my reading schedule for a while now. This is perfect.

I read this book about 15 years ago, but stopped after book one, and honestly I don't remember anything about it. So I'm excited to pick up this series.

I'm going to join you! I remember just loosing myself in this series when I was younger but it has been years since I've even thought about this. Just picked it up at a used book store :)

This is a good choice! I don't like fantasy novels or books with nonhuman characters, but I was forced to read this (long story) and ended up enjoying it. I hope you do as well!

I read almost every book in the Redwall series when I was a kid. They are great stories!

I used to be completely obsessed with this series, I just couldn't get bored of them, I think my favorite was Lord Brocktree or Martin the Warrior.

I had a temp job that consisted of typing this whole novel - long story, but, I swear a true story! It was hard because there was a snake or something who spoke with many essessssss...that I had to count and type. That I still enjoyed the book under those conditions says a lot!!!

And done! This is my second go-around with Redwall, first time being around 1995 :)

I have very fond memories of this book. I remember staying home from school (I was sick... I swear) to spend WHOLE days reading the this book and the rest in the series. This was the book/series to get me really into reading and the fantasy genre.

And honestly - those fond memories may have been what got me through reading his book again. For the first 50-75 pages I was only able to read in short increments and was not able to get myself into the book. Earlier today I was finally able to sit down and read the rest in one shot and found myself enjoying the story again.

If you are reading this for the first time as an adult - I can safely say you will likely not get the same level of enjoyment out of it. The plot/dialogue seem very much simplified for younger readers. Found myself rolling my eyes several times at different situations/conversations (But I forgive you book! You're Redwall!).

Characters are fun and adorable. Just like Eragon I can see myself holding onto this book for my future book-loving children.
