I want to share a true story. This happened to someone close to me, so I know this to be a fact rather than fiction.

My friend stated that this happened to him twice, in two different states. It's strange when it happens just once. But to have this happen twice in two completely different locations, I would say it's more than coincidence.

This happened to him once in New Hampshire, and once in Florida, and both times practically the same way. A stranger came up to him, called him by his name (John), and started to speak to my friend as if they were picking up where they had left off with each other.

My friend, confused both times, stated that he didn't know the gentlemen. He had never met them in his life.

Both people were visibly upset and thought that he was playing a joke on them. When they realized he wasn't kidding, they became even more upset, insisting that they had hung out together, spent time together, been over each other's houses, etc.

Now, my friend is the most sane person I've ever met. No unaccounted time, no memory lapses, nothing. He's as solid and consistent as a person could possibly be. And absolutely no possibility of an unknown twin.

Strange and true! It's kind of freaky to think about. Do we all have doppelgangers, or do only certain people? And where do they come from? Have you or someone you've known had such an experience? I'd love to hear about it if you have.

I haven't had such an experience and wouldn't know how to process it or know what to make of it...I;ve heard that everyone that everyone has a twin somewhere in the world, which is fine, but was freaked out by this story in that John may've discovered that he doesn't necessarily have a twin, but that he is someone else's twin! The twist seemed to be a bit of an invalidation of self: Not that you have a twin but that you are someone's else twin!

For instance, in cloning they say that another exact duplicate person can be 'grown' from part of your body thereby creating a twin! But, does it have an individual soul/identity or does it share in a collective soul that is expressing as all of us?? Hope I'm not getting too far off the path here...Steve

I know, freaky, right? I've wondered the same thing of clones too.

I don't think he took it as he was someone else's twin though, or that he was all that bothered by it. It was, "just another one of those things." lol But it is strange and unsettling in a way.

When he was little, he saw a UFO over an observatory with his friends. I even asked him if he remembers having any marks on him after the incident to help explain this phenomenon he experienced. He replied he did not have any memory of anything odd after the sighting. It just may be it's one of those things that can't be explained.

This is why I like these genres for fiction, too. It helps us explore different ideas and theories why these things could happen. Sometimes it really gets to me, though. I want to know the answer noooow lol.

To my way of thinking, we have the status quo information of the world and then we have the paranormal, which is vastly more than 'known' things. I always say that we laugh at what people believed 600 yrs ago or so; like the world is flat, the earth is the center of the universe and that the sun revolves around the earth... these were the facts way back when!
Similarly, I say that people will look back and laugh at the 'facts' we accept today ~ thus I like these genres too, because they prompt and allow us to think just outside the status quo and beyond...and yeah, we want it now! But alaw, we're all prisoners of our own time.
